Hi Everyone,
I am American, and I very strongly support Evgeni Plushenko. I believe he should have received the gold medal. He has recently said that he no longer intends to pursue the matter of protesting this. However, I will leave this post up for a while longer, for any of you who would still like to write a letter expressing your thoughts and feelings to the people who have the power to make decisions. Here are some email addresses of places where you can voice your concerns:

- Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Send email to: oxrlat@dol.ru
- Anton Sikharulidze, Chairman of the State Duma Sport Committee & member of the Organizing Committee for Russian athletes’ participation in the 2010 Olympic Games, Send email to: siharulidze@duma.gov.ru
- Russian Olympic Committee: inform@infosport.ru (inform@olympic.ru)
- Russian Olympic Committee - Mr. Leonid Tyagachyov, President: pr@olympic.ru
- Vitaly Mutko, Minister of Sports: vankyver2010@minstm.gov.ru
- International Skating Federation, Send email to: info@isu.ch
- Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Russia & supporter of Plushenko, go to website: http://eng.kremlin.ru/articles/send_letter_Eng1a.shtml

Here, also, is a form letter I prepared that you can copy & paste to the above email addresses, or personalize as you wish. Maybe someone can translate it to Russian:

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am writing to voice my support of Evgeni Plushenko. I hope that Russia will fully support him and ask for an investigation into this controversy. I believe he should have received the gold medal for his Olympic performance.

Should a cleanly skated program with only triple jumps, outscore a program with a quad, even one that was a bit wobbly? The common sense answer is, NO WAY. The message from the judging was that Plushenko would have had to skate a PERFECT program in order to beat Evan Lysacek, regardless of the level of difficulty. This is ridiculous. Plushenko had a much more difficult program. He did 2 quads total in both programs and Lysacek did none. The only way Lysacek should've had any chance of winning was if Plushenko had fallen, which he didn't. He held it all together, despite being nervous, with so much at stake. If all Plushenko had to do was a Lysacek level program, he could've done it in his sleep. He took a huge risk, succeeded, but was not rewarded for it.

Plushenko, and Russia, have every right to voice dissent and to question the outcome. When Americans think one of their athletes was treated unjustly, they rally behind him in full support. If Plushenko were American, there would be a full investigation demanded, and then most likely a gold medal to Plushenko. In the skating controversy of 2002 in Salt Lake City, a second gold medal was awarded, so I hope the same justice will be done for Plushenko at this Olympics. He is very special, worth standing up for, and worth fighting for. Russia is blessed to have an athlete who is so beloved throughout the entire world. I hope you will give him your full support.

Fairness and justice is more important to me than what country someone is from, and for this reason I support Evgeni Plushenko.

Sincerely yours,

OK ... keep the following things in mind :plush34: ....

Plushy has already long ago, deserved place in skating history as a LEGEND, and such must remain to be remembered :bra_vo: ... and any scandal should not jeopardize this his status! :st_op:

This silver medal will be always so bright and clean :plush31: ... and Evgeni will be always remembered as the MORAL WINNER of the Olympics Games in Vancouver! :co_ol: :plush17: :plush11: :plush1:

-----------------------------

We know already a few days, that Plushy will NOT COMPLAIN about the scandalous decisions of judges at the Olympics :plush43: ... but since we have a lot of letters from fans, who would like to express their opinion on everything what happened, or to change something in the future male skating ... just a few of my thoughts....
:mi_ga_et:

In any case, for changes the judges decision is too late, that we could ask from some "Supervisory Commission", at least, review and analyze the "controversial" 4 programs - two SP (Plushy and Lysacek's) and both LP's... :plush34:

But... if you want that international sports and Olympic officials must to knew, that many skating fans around the world not agree with the judicial decision ... or at least, to ask that they in future, change number of points for difficult jumps (quads) - with which would, in some way, Evgeni's opinion won
... :plush45:

... these are the most important international address, where you can send your letters of protest, supports ... Do not be too emotional, try to be "nice" and concise :hi_hi_hi: ... probably would be best to write in English... on one of these, or all the addresses which follow - decide yourself :plush34:

BOOK FOR PLUSHY FROM FANS

Hi Everyone!

People from all over the world are creating a book for Plushy expressing our support for him. It will be given to him in Turin by someone who knows him. If you want to contribute to it: create a Word document with your thoughts, feelings, wishes, pictures - anything you want - poetry, song lyrics, etc., and email it to Angela at tanisluis@hotmail.it. She will print everyone's documents, bind together to make a book, and deliver to him. You can also make art or drawings and scan it - whatever will fit on regular paper. If you use color, make sure color is small, since regular paper can't handle large amounts of ink. The last day to email is Saturday, March 13. Have fun!
