We all like Johnny as far as I see,nevertheles Johnny's fans don't like Zhenya,and they write bad,hateful comments towards him
I don't want to generalize it but it seems as it is general American attitude...We never say or write bad things unless there is some concrete ,unfair statement...
Let me explain like this,I have never been a fan of Brian Joubert,but I was upset for him in the Olympics.It was too bad for him to end up 16th.However when he used to say in the past like he didn't believe in Evgeni's coming back or his previous behaviours especially in the European championships five years ago were disturbing and annoying.But it shouldn't mean to attack a skater in all the way we can,like saying:he has no choreography,his footwork is sloppy,his spins are ugly,,,etc,etc.....by saying things like that a person can only show his/hers hatred towards a certain skater,or show he/she doesn't understand figure skating at all.We don't have to love all of them,but we have to appreciate somethings, like Brian is a dynamic skater,Lambiel's spins are very beautiful,etc..
Unfortunately ,there are too much Evgeni haters..Although after the gala, that some pre-Evgeni hater commentators appreciated his emotional skating,those Evgeni haters exist a lot.They attack him so harshly in every single way based on nothing.Sick and tired of those people.
Until this time,it was all about Evgeni-Brian rivalry and no ugly things happened.I don't want to generalize it to one nationality but American-Canadian media-people showed their ugliest faces.Of course there are exceptions and please don't get offended.Several weeks ago I read an article written by someone I didn't care, says "Figure skating fans prefer watching this, this ,this(generally canadian skaters which they assume artistic, I don't want to name)this, this,.....and this instead of watching Cheng Jhang Lee and Brian Joubert..
Excuse me, but this is so wrong!!!!!!! Brian Joubert has fans too,he may not be the most elegant skater but he has a style and charisma too!!!!!!!!How can they underestimate a person this way...
There are too much ignorant journalists who take themselves as experts in figure skating..One time Evan Lysacek won (although unfairly)and the Pandora's Box is opened.Very disgusting.Politics everywhere ruin everything.Figure skating championships lost its meaning..Not the same,never will be the same.I won't enjoy anymore..When I think about the Worlds 2004,it was the best competition I have ever seen,since everyone skated good.Remember? Evgeni first,Brian second,Stefan Lindeman third,Stephane Lambiel fourth,and I guess it was Johnny Weir the fifth,, and the gala was unforgettable...Evgeni three times,encore two times.., Those were the days..sigh...never will be the same again...

Not Lambiel's fans dont like Evgeni ... maybe is problem, that he beat them all

Do not be annoying, television can cause wars and where is the money - there is a lot of aggression ... why they would not have "sacrificed" some skater, at least he was a world and Olympic champion.. there is and happy "circumstance" that he is not "their" man

P.S. btw... now is clear to me, why Lambiel was in the second part of the Gala - he will soon be touring throughout America in "Thin Ice" TV series

Olympic Figure Skater Johnny Weir Confirms: ‘Stars on Ice’ Deemed Him “Not Family Friendly” Enough to Perform

Earlier this week we reported that U.S. Champion and Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir had been denied a spot on the 2010 ‘Stars on Ice Tour,’ because he is “not family friendly.” We obtained the information from a source who wishes to remain anonymous. In an interview with Access Hollywood on Friday, Weir confirmed that he will be excluded from the tour after tour sponsors deemed him “not family friendly.”

“It’s for real,” Weir said. “I’ve never been invited to do ‘Stars on Ice’ before, which is the only figure skating tour in the U.S. It’s disappointing that I can’t perform for my American fans… all because I’m not ‘family friendly’ enough.”

Following the news GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios issued a statement denouncing Johnny Weir’s rejection from ‘Stars on Ice.’

“Johnny Weir is a two time Olympian and three time U.S. champion. Other athletes of his caliber would be granted the opportunity to perform during national tours like Stars on Ice. By choosing not to bring the performances and talent of Johnny Weir to American audiences, Stars on Ice is reinforcing an unfortunate double standard that is too often applied to gay athletes and athletes perceived to be gay.

“GLAAD calls on Stars on Ice to invite all eligible figure skaters because today people of all gender expressions and sexual orientations are part of the fabric of our culture. Athletes of Weir’s caliber deserve the same rights to perform on this, and any, tour.

“We urge community members to speak out against this apparent double standard and call on Stars on Ice and corporate sponsor Smucker’s to demand equal opportunities for all athletes.”

Johnny Weir Responds To ‘Stars On Ice’ Tour Exclusion: ‘I’d Love To Have My Own Show… Maybe Getting Lady Gaga’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Figure skater Johnny Weir is speaking out about being left out in the cold from the “Stars on Ice” tour.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) broke news on Thursday that the two-time Olympian was allegedly deemed “not family friendly” by the tour’s sponsors.

Johnny Weir spoke to Billy Bush for “The Billy Bush Show” and Access Hollywood on Friday morning to address his exclusion.

“It is for real,” he told Billy. “I’ve never been invited to do ‘Star on Ice’ before, which is the only figure skating tour in the U.S., and it’s disappointing that I can’t perform for my American fans… all because I’m not ‘family friendly’ enough.”

The three-time U.S. National Champion said the hardest part about not skating on the tour would be missing his devoted fans.

“I totally understand that I am a little outrageous in some ways… I’m a little un-P.C., but I really wish I had the chance to perform for the American fans,” he continued.

But Johnny has a possible backup plan with another irreverent performer in mind.

“Maybe right now, just artistically and creatively, I’d love to have my own show and my own tour and involve some big musical acts, like maybe getting Lady Gaga” he said, explaining that if he found sponsors he would create an all-inclusive event. “Nobody would be too un-family friendly for my show.”

He dismissed the idea that he was excluded because of his flamboyant style or perceived sexuality and noted that ice-skating is always going to be flashy.

“I don’t like to look at boundaries as far as sexuality is concerned. I don’t like to look at things based on a person’s sexuality,” he continued. “Anytime you get men in glitter it’s flamboyant occasion!”

When contacted by Access, a rep for “Stars On Ice” said, “We are disappointed that there is untrue and inaccurate information being disseminated. Please be assured that the ‘gender identity and sexual orientation’ of cast members has never been a consideration in the selection of tour performers. ‘Stars on Ice’ recognizes Johnny Weir is a talented athlete and we appreciate the contributions he has made to the international figure skating community throughout his career.”

The rep said there simply is not enough space on the tour.

“The current cast of the ‘Stars on Ice’ tour includes very talented performers including the Olympic Gold medalist, Evan Lysacek and the current U.S. National Champion, Jeremy Abbott, the statement continued. “While ‘Stars on Ice’ wishes it could accommodate many more talented skaters as part of our cast, the fact is we cannot sign every skater… be assured that the comments mentioned regarding the ‘Stars on Ice’ tour are simply not accurate.”

Yes,because Evgeni beat them all! But, they like Artem Boroudilin, and I'm sure they like Sergei Voronov too..Do you see the trick? One of the fans of the Weir says that Artem's movements reminds her/him of Johnny.(???????) I must say "Not even close!" Artem is an elegant skater,this may be the only thing he may have common with Johnny.But, they are trying too hard, look at Artem's hands please,look at his body language! So obvious that he admires Evgeni (I don't know,maybe he doesn't tell this way. but come on!he can't make it more obvious) and there is nothing wrong with this.(I'm in love with that elegant hands,hands of an artist Evgeni's are much better,natural,not forced )
they consider him as harmless now, and if someday Artem beats them ,you'll see,they will hate him ,one they he may not be "their man" too

Of course .... there and various degrees of "hatred", and "non-likeness"

For example... I was indifferent to Lysacek earlier, and now I does not like him not a bit.
He is very "advanced" in his career, but is still lower for the class, than Plushy ... hate him? - no, I can only pity his gold medal

Yes,but he was annoying when he talked about "if it is all about jumps then judges would give us 10 seconds and without music......"You know the rest.That he meant Evgeni only jumps..but now he talks about that he is "graceless",he admits it..

I remember Lysacek firstly from 2005 worlds,as we know Evgeni withdrew after the SP,and in LP everyone skated so bad that the scores were so low (Lambiel's technical scores were 60 someting not even 70)It was the worst world competition..Lysacek was the bronze medalist that day,his SP scores helped..In those days I remember one of my friend who rarely watches competitions told me that Lysacek is the most non-artistic skater she has ever seen.She couldn't understand why he became the third.In the Lp I guess Lysacek skated "singing in the rain " and his arms,hands were even more annoying than today,dangling from everywhere,sharply,so disturbing and I remember he made lots of mistakes in his foot sequence...that night Kevin van der Perren was the best but his elimination and sp was low I guess...
In those times , there were also eliminations (in which the skaters perform their free programs)and 20% of the eliminations would contribute to the final scores..they don't do that anymore? Now only Sp and LP..So much change?

To me it is the same,Lysacek is a random skater,an average one..
and I never consider and will never consider 2005 world medalists as real winners..Lucky Lambiel...now one little toe-loop determines the winner (as judges claim)

Past, present and future…

The Olympic Games in Vancouver were an incredible experience for me. The moment I remember the most is when I entered the stadium with the whole Swiss delegation at the opening ceremony, carrying our flag. It was a real honor which I will never forget.

Of course, a gold medal would have made this adventure perfect but in the end, this experience taught me many many things, I’m extremely satisfied that I was able to fight like I did and I can only give a positive summary of these Olympic Games. Like I said, it’s been an incredible journey for me and I want to thank each and everyone who supported me and who believed in me. It was through these Olympics that I had the discipline to seriously take care of myself. Thus, I’m now stronger and healthier, my injury is gone and I’m enjoying every second that I am on the ice.

A year ago, when my body started to feel better, I was hoping to be able to come back to the highest level. My only goal was to compete in Vancouver; I came back for the Olympics and the Olympics only. It was my choice and I have absolutely nothing to regret. This chapter of my life is now behind me and I’m very happy and proud of everything I could realize in my career as a competitive skater. Now it’s time for me to show the rest of the world what I have inside me, it’s time to show the artist in me and I will continue to skate as long as my body allows me to. Figure skating is my life and I want to share that with all of you.


After Vancouver, I had no time to lose cause Anastacia was waiting for me in Zurich to bring down the Hallenstadion! She is an incredible woman and she’s been very inspiring during our time together at Art on Ice. Everytime we performed to In Your Eyes, there was magic going on between us. The whole show and cast was just amazing. Who said we did less in exhibitions than in competition? We saw so many triple axels and quads. Spasibo Evgeni for pushing us to the limit of our sport!


During the next few months I’ll be experiencing another adventure, touring the whole world. Check the schedule as often as possible, new show dates will be added by and by.

At the moment I’m getting ready with Shizuka, the Olympic champion of 2006, for Thin Ice. It’s gonna be really exciting and we’ll bring you some fierce moves! Woowwww, -the artist in me!!- Stephan doesn't sound humble at all.. This is something I call "arrogance"..He finds every right to boast himself..

I never consider him as an artist, and apparently he is very pretentious... "Artists suffer Stephane,they don't look meaninglessly,with void eyes like yours.."
Evgeni's eyes speak,tell the story,deep...he's in a class of his own..
