I do agree with the other points of the petition, though, and I don't doubt that some signatories have their hearts in the right place. Cinquanta's anonymous judging and possible elimination of the short program is just horrifying to contemplate.

My point is that "anonymous judging" is not his "invention", than the national federations and countries from where are those who write the petition. Will be better if they write to their federations .... oh, wait - maybe initiators of the petition are just "tools" of their federations?

In any case - they want to replace him with another person, which can be even more easily manipulated and corrupted

It seems that the U.S. Figure Skating is currently the only skating federation, which has decided to respond to public outrage in connection with recent news about ISU proposals, albeit with a delay.

The president of U.S. Figure Skating Patricia St. Peter provided information on international skating scene activities by its officials, Peter Murray, the editor of Blazing Blades website, reported on his Facebook.

Recall that on March 25, 2014 Chicago Tribune published an article that included a release of ISU president Ottavio Cinquanta’s internal email with new proposals he sent to all ISU Committee and Member voting representatives in advance of the June 2014 ISU Congress.

These proposals, especially the one that offers elimination of the short program from figure skating competitions, caused a big outrage in the skating community and numerous petitions of protest, including the demand for immediate resignation of ISU president.

“Some ask why U.S. Figure Skating has not made a public statement against president Cinquanta’s “proposal” and criticize U.S. Figure Skating for its “silence.” We have not issued a public statement opposing President Cinquanta’s “proposal” because there is no proposal to eliminate the short program that has been submitted for vote at the next ISU Congress.” St. Peter said.

“We have confirmed with the ISU that what has been labeled as the ISU President’s “proposal” to eliminate the short program was a statement he made in an internal email he sent to all ISU officeholders to elicit their opinions on a variety of topics.

The statements in the ISU President’s email were his personal opinions, and he was seeking comment on them from ISU officeholders. Please be assured that if a proposal to eliminate the short program had been submitted for the 2014 Congress agenda, U.S. Figure Skating would have strongly and vigorously advocated against it.” the U.S. Figure Skating president added.

Patricia St. Peter also noted that U.S. Figure Skating, along with Russia and Greece, submitted proposals for ISU Congress to eliminate the anonymity of the judges’ scores at ISU Championship events and the Olympic Winter Games.

According to her, USFSA is working with other figure skating members to pass this proposal. “It is critical that it is passed for the betterment of the sport and its image. Passage of the proposal will need a two-thirds majority vote of the figure skating members.” the U.S. Figure Skating officeholder admitted.

МОСКВА, 28 апр - Р-Спорт, Андрей Симоненко. Руководство Международного союза конькобежцев (ISU) на данный момент выступает за сохранение анонимности судейства в фигурном катании, но решение по совместному предложению Федерации фигурного катания на коньках России (ФФККР) и Ассоциации фигурного катания США (USFSA) отменить эту анонимность будет принимать конгресс ISU, заявил агентству "Р-Спорт" председатель технического комитета ISU, вице-президент ФФККР Александр Лакерник.

После судейского скандала на Олимпийских играх 2002 года в Солт-Лейк-Сити была введена новая система судейства в фигурном катании, в которой оценки судей в протоколах стали отображаться в случайном порядке. Также было принято решение не показывать национальную принадлежность арбитров.

"Федерации пока смотрят по-разному на отмену анонимности, есть за, есть против, - сказал Лакерник по телефону. - Руководство ISU на сегодняшний момент за сохранение анонимности. Конгресс еще не сегодня, а в июне, но сегодня я это от руководства ISU слышал. Решать будет голосование конгресса".

Председатель техкома ISU рассказал, что речи о том, чтобы вновь отображать национальную принадлежность арбитров на табло, нет. "Отображается ли рядом с фамилией судьи "ISU" или страна, если люди знают, из какой страны судья - не думаю, что это принципиально. Что принципиально - известно ли, какой судья какие оценки поставил, - подчеркнул Лакерник. - Сейчас зритель видит сумму баллов, а в распечатках протоколов, которые получают спортсмены и специалисты, оценки перепутаны, и кто что поставил, неизвестно".

"Плюс такой системы - это определенная защита судей от давления извне, тренеров и федераций. Минус - нельзя понять, хорошо судья судил или плохо. Есть так называемый коридор, и если судья слишком отклонился от середины, то его могут наказать. Но если судья попал в этот коридор, то он может творить все что угодно. Наша федерация решила, что в данный момент нам важнее обеспечить качество судейства и для этого отменить анонимность", - заключил Лакерник.
