Judges Scores (pdf):

Live play-by-play coverage: NHK Trophy pairs' free skate:
http://www.examiner.com/figure-skating- ... free-skate

Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy GER - throw triple flip (bam!), side-by-side triple toe-triple toe seque (Szolkowy doubles both, that could be very costly), triple twist, side-by-side double axel (Savchenko singles), bails out of final lift (uh-oh), throw triple salchow (threes out) - a lot of mistakes there, that's probably gonna be a silver for the Germans - TES 48.58, PCS 63.87, FS TOTAL 112.45, FINAL TOTAL 171.68

Narumi Takahashi/Mervin Tran JPN - triple twist (nice), side-by-side triple salchow (Takahashi two-foots hers), side-by-side triple toe-double toe (Takahashi singles second), throw triple salchow (hangs on), throw triple toe (foot down) - Takahashi is always on the brink of a tumble, luckily, she hangs onto her landings today - TES 55.92, PCS 58.28, FS TOTAL 114.20, FINAL TOTAL 172.09

Stefania Berton/Ondrej Hotarek ITA - Adagio in G Minor, Hotarek cleanly shaven today for this program - triple toe-double toe-double toe (nice), double twist, side-by-side triple salchow (Berton hand down), throw triple salchow, throw double loop (?) - they're strong singles skaters, but kinda flat with the chemistry, unfortunately - TES 52.49, PCS 55.11, FS TOTAL 107.60, FINAL TOTAL 163.83

Caydee Denney/John Coughlin USA - Turandot - side-by-side triple toe (off unison but clean), triple twist (a bit overrotated), side-by-side double axel-double axel sequence (Denney singles second?), throw triple loop (fall, didn't get any lift on it), throw triple flip, finishes just a bit behind the music - probably the most sluggish they've been this season (this is their fifth competition now, including the domestic events in the summer) - TES 55.61, PCS 53.66, FALL -1.00, FS TOTAL 108.27, FINAL TOTAL 163.75

Yuko Kavaguti/Alexander Smirnov RUS - Clair de Lune - side-by-side triple toe (nice!), triple twist, throw triple salchow, side-by-side double axel-double axel sequence (Kavaguti steps out of first, don't know how she got that second one off from a standstill), throw triple loop (hangs on!) - TES 61.13, PCS 61.36, FS TOTAL 122.49, FINAL TOTAL 177.51

Lubov Iliushechkina/Nodari Maisuradze RUS - side-by-side triple salchow (Iliushechkina doubles), double twist (?), side-by-side triple toe-double toe sequence (Iliushechkina doubles first toe), throw triple lutz (two-foot), throw triple loop (two-foot) - pretty lackluster free skates so far from the pairs - TES 53.27, PCS 52.62, FS TOTAL 105.89, FINAL TOTAL 159.01

Marissa Castelli/Simon Shnapir USA - Rach 2 - triple twist, side-by-side triple toe-double toe sequence (Shnapir falls on triple toe), throw triple axel (fall), side-by-side double axel, throw triple salchow (nice) - TES 53.05, PCS 48.04, FALL -2.00, FS TOTAL 99.09, FINAL TOTAL 149.02

Natasha Purich/Raymond Schultz CAN - side-by-side triple toe (Schultz steps out), single twist (I don't think I've ever seen that before), throw triple salchow, side-by-side double axel-double toe, throw triple lutz (step out), Purich completely bails out of solo spin - TES 41.60, PCS 41.01, FS TOTAL 82.61, FINAL TOTAL 128.17

Judges Scores (pdf):
http://www.isuresults.com/results/gpjpn ... Scores.pdf

icenetwork.com:
Takahashi's short program score is the fifth-highest ever recorded under the IJS.

@tony_wheeler:
Mroz QUAD LUTZ and it looked clean even with a wild free leg
Mroz isn't happy with his skate. He wanted a 3/3 rather than the 3/2. The Lutz was maybe 1/8 cheated, but it should be full credit.

Live play-by-play coverage: NHK Trophy men's short program
http://www.examiner.com/figure-skating- ... z1dTlg1URm

QUAD COUNT: 3 attempted, 2 clean (Menshov - toe, Mroz - lutz)

Daisuke Takahashi JPN - triple flip-triple toe, triple axel (really solid), good flying sit, steps into triple lutz - no quad, though the one he fell out of in the warmup looked nice, really love this program for him - TES 46.14, PCS 44.29, SP TOTAL 90.43

Takahiko Kozuka JPN - walley into triple flip (low on the landing), triple axel (nice), nice fly on the death drop, triple lutz-triple toe (nice)- TES 40.88, PCS 38.89, SP TOTAL 79.77

Samuel Contesti ITA - triple lutz-triple toe (messy landing on the toe), triple axel (fall out), steps in triple flip (bailed out in midair, downgrade), finishes well after the music ends - might be time for Contesti to explore other genres of hamming-it-up, perhaps - TES 30.22, PCS 34.61, OVERTIME -1.00, SP TOTAL 63.83

Tomas Verner CZE - Carmina Burana - quad toe (two-foot, hand down), triple axel, that was some unsteadily flying upright spin there, triple flip-double toe (edge on the flip), goes flying on his step sequence (that was not a light fall by any m eans) - TES 29.10, PCS 34.86, FALL -1.00, SP TOTAL 62.96

Brandon Mroz USA - Mack the Knife - steps into quad lutz (nice!), triple axel (nice), triple lutz-double toe - the quad lutz in the short program, super! - TES 40.76, PCS 34.07, SP TOTAL 74.83

Tatsuki Machida JPN - Dark Eyes - triple axel (easy and smooth), triple flip-triple toe (nice), steps into triple lutz, falls on an errant flying sit (geez) - TES 38.73, PCS 34.53, FALL -1.00, SP TOTAL 72.26

Ross Miner USA - triple axel (nice), triple lutz-triple toe, steps into triple flip (hangs on) - well-done, a couple of muscled landings, but clean nonetheless - TES 38.87, PCS 32.25, SP TOTAL 71.12

Konstantin Menshov RUS - triple axel, quad toe-double toe (a bit forward on the quad toe to pull off the triple), steps into triple lutz - big jumper, not the typical Russian choreography, it's got some quirks to it, step sequence works great with the music - TES 42.24, PCS 32.43, SP TOTAL 74.67

Armin Mahbanoozadeh USA - triple flip-triple toe (nice), triple axel (falls out), great camel-change-camel, steps into triple lutz - I haven't been too sure about the choreographic choices to Kashmir yet, doesn't seem to quite fit - TES 33.60, PCS 29.92, SP TOTAL 63.52

BACKEND-TRIPLE COMBO COUNT: 6 attempted, 5 clean (Meite axel-toe, Gedevanishvili axel-toe, Asada axel-toe, Leonova toe-toe, Suzuki axel-toe)

Akiko Suzuki JPN - triple lutz (held that landing edge for days), double axel-triple toe (nice), triple loop, single loop-double toe-double loop (uh-oh), single lutz, triple flip, triple salchow-double toe - way to recover from those two popped jumps, but the singles are going to be really costly - TES 57.04, PCS 62.39, FS SCORE 119.43, TOTAL SCORE 185.98

Alena Leonova RUS - Adagio for Strings - triple toe-triple toe, triple loop (downgrade, two-foot, fall out), triple lutz (edge), double flip-double toe, triple salchow (ekes it out), triple flip-double toe, single axel - not the energy she had in the short, just kind of looked a bit in a malaise throughout - TES 50.50, PCS 58.42, FS SCORE 108.92, TOTAL SCORE 170.68

Mao Asada JPN - Liebestraum - double axel, triple flip-double loop, steps into triple lutz, double axel-triple toe, triple flip-double loop-double loop, triple salchow, triple loop (two-foot, underrotated?), love the spiral to end that program, such a different start to her season than she's had in recent years! - TES 61.20, PCS 64.57, FS SCORE 125.77, TOTAL SCORE 184.19

Elene Gedevanishvili GEO - Phantom - triple lutz-double toe (hand down on lutz), triple flip (looked clean), double axel-triple toe (nice), triple salchow, double lutz, triple toe, double axel, messy limbs-everywhere fall on her step sequence, but a different skater than she was at Skate America for sure - TES 47.74, PCS 56.33, FALL -1.00, FS SCORE 103.07, TOTAL SCORE 160.44

Ashley Wagner USA - Black Swan - triple flip-double toe-double toe (solid), double axel-double toe, triple lutz (good height on that one), triple loop-double toe, triple salchow, triple loop (two-foot, underrotated?), triple flip - she really looks strong, her jumps are higher, she has more command on the ice, this FS is a really great vehicle for her - TES 54.45, PCS 55.32, FS SCORE 109.77, TOTAL SCORE 165.65

Agnes Zawadzki USA - Rhapsody in Blue - double axel-double toe, triple flip, triple lutz (fall out, hand down), double lutz-double toe, double salchow, triple toe (fall), triple salchow (fall) - it could just be early in the season, but her jumps look much more labored than they did last year (growing pains?), that was just an overall poor skate unfortunately - TES 36.53, PCS 49.82, FALLS -2.00, FS SCORE 84.35, TOTAL SCORE 138.19

Kiira Korpi FIN - I Got Rhythm - triple toe-double toe (scratchy on the landing of the first toe), triple salchow, double axel, double loop-double toe-double loop, double salchow-double toe, double loop, double axel - the jumps aren't quite ready yet, she took out both the lutz and the flip, way too many pops - TES 46.23, PCS 57.60, FS SCORE 103.83, TOTAL SCORE 157.53

Mae Berenice Meite FRA - double axel-triple toe, triple loop (hand down), triple lutz (hand down), steps into triple flip (ekes it out), double axel-double toe, triple loop-single loop (not sure if that's going to even count as a downgraded single loop? is there such a thing?), triple toe - TES 47.68, PCS 43.96, FS SCORE 91.64, TOTAL SCORE 143.69

Cynthia Phaneuf CAN - Rhapsody on a Theme - single lutz, triple toe-double toe, single loop, double salchow, triple toe-double toe, triple loop, double axel (fall) - she's been inconsistent, but there's been way too many popped jumps this season, seems worse than usual - TES 38.71, PCS 48.69, FALL -1.00, FS SCORE 86.40, TOTAL SCORE 131.82

Shoko Ishikawa JPN - Miss Saigon - triple toe-triple toe (underrotated second toe possibly), double lutz, triple flip (two-foot, underrotated?), double axel, triple flip-single toe (underrotated second?), double loop, triple salchow (two-foot) - TES 34.14, PCS 42.93, FS SCORE 77.07, TOTAL SCORE 122.14

I really, really like Dai's program - in one word: divine skating :plush33:
.... only what i dont like is that he, it seems to me, "surrendered", and went to the "eaiser way which often goes" - to skate safely, without risk, without quad :plush34:
