http://fskating.com/2012/11/yuzuru-hany ... ecord.htmlYuzuru Hanyu sets another world recordYuzuru Hanyu of Japan set a new world record for men’s SP and took a strong lead at the 2012 NHK Trophy.
17-year-old purely, inspiredly and confidently performed his short program to Gary Moore’s Parisienne Walkways that included a quadruple toe loop, Axel in three and a half turns and a cascade of triple Lutz – triple toe loop. His spins got the highest level of difficulty.
2012 World bronze medalist earned 95.32, which is the best men’s SP in the history of international competitions under the new judging system. Yuzuru Hanyu also improved his previous world record (95.07 points), which he set at Skate America earlier this season.
“I performed very well today. It’s very satisfying to show these kinds of results for two competitions in a row.” Hanyu commented to the media.
His teammate Daisuke Takahashi is currently in second place with 87.47 points. Takahashi touched down on his opening quad toe loop, but was solid the rest of the way in a lively routine to “Rock and Roll Medley.”
“I made some mistakes today with jumps and spins, but overall felt it was better than in China,” Takahashi said. “This will give me some confidence heading into the free skate tomorrow.”
Spanish talent Javier Fernandez after clean and strong performance of his short program to “The Mask of Zorro” holds the third place with 86.23 points.
In ladies competitions, Mao Asada of Japan received a season’s best 67.95 points to finish first in the ladies short program.
She didn’t attempt her trademark triple axel, but successfully completed a double axel, a triple flip – double loop combination and triple loop performing to “I Got Rhythm” composition.
Mirai Nagasu of the United States was second (61.18) and Li Zijun of China placed third (59.62).
