ПЛЮЩЕНКО: КРАСИВ И НЕДОСТУПЕН :-):

Maya Plisetskaya, the ex-prima ballerina of Bolshoi, expresses her admiration of Plush after the Torino Olympics (from the interview by E.Shainskiy for sport-express, February 22, 2006).
------------------

PLUSHENKO: HANDSOME AND UNREACHABLE

E.S. - I cannot not ask you about Plushenko.

M.P.- He is our favourite. He is so good that it looks like nobody can beat him. I can't imagine who can be better. He is a master, a great master who does everything beautifully, brilliantly and artistically. Also, he always looks so confident that we, his fans, cannot be not confident. He skates like an artist who knows that he is the best. Other skaters think that they are good too, but they have doubts and get nervous. Plushenko on the contrary always knows that he is much better than others, and he convinces all of us in it. He not just "works" on ice, he dances on ice masterly, and that is a wonderful thing to see.

E.S.- What do you think about his appearance?

M.P.- I think his appearance is fine. He is tall, striking, with a handsome body and long arms. He is not some cute guy from the postcard, thanks god he is not!, but he has the perfect face for the stage. The ice is the stage too.

E.S.- Who does he remind you among ballet dancers?

M.P.- He looks like Godunov, the Russian ballet dancer. The same type- tall, handsome, self-confident, with long waving in the wind and pirouettes blond hair. In ballet he would be perfect at parts performed by Godunov. He has the temperament and virtuosity for that."

It looks like she was right after all. Here is Godunov is on the stage:

Re: Женя на тренировках || Evgeni on training

Girls, I know I´m somehow offtopic but I want to ask you something. :smu:sche_nie: There´s a poster on FSU which insists that Plushy had other programs before Vancouver, programs full of transitions, choreography, etc, and he dropped them because they were too demanding and chose to skate to Tango Amore and Aranjuez. :sh_ok: She posted this information several times, on different discussion boards and I wonder where does she have it from. :ts_ss: :plush38:
If I remember well I´ve asked Cekoni once and she was very surprised too, :ne_vi_del:
Do you know more about this story? :kli_ny:

Vancouver is over, we should look forward, isn't it. There is no difference whether he might chosen a better program now. Besides, TA is nice to watch live, very passionate and powerful, only plushy can pull it off. As for transitions, I kind of hate the new rules (I promise myself to read the new rules some day......but not now), too trivial and restrict.

A silver medal is not bad for a man coming out of 3 year retirement. He is already making the history. And let's face it, this result pushes him to pursue an even higher goal: 4 Olympics. We got to see him in competition for 3 more years, how wonderful is that!!

He is a legendary skater, no matter judging from which angle :-)

Re: Женя на тренировках || Evgeni on training

The willpower of this man is simply amazing! All the energy that he's putting into trying to realize his dream, the patience, the amount of pain he's willing to bear... He's doing all this work not only for himself, but also for all of us fans: the happiness that we feel watching him skating is the driving force and the reason behind his struggle! :plush34:

Why? Why do they hate him? Because of Vancouver, or because of other reasons ? :ps_ih: I really don't understand. :plush30:
Only a word: Envy! :plush34:
Seconded. Envy, stupidity and dissatisfaction in their own lives. But that's beside the point. Because nobody cares that haters exist. The name "Plushenko" is a guarantee that the tickets will be sold out. FS fans who come to the shows are happy, sponsors and advertizers are more than satisfied, TV companies are fighting for broadcasting, so everybody's happy. Only haters are left behind the closed door and can't enjoy the feast. ::yaz-yk: :ya_hoo_oo:

Hey, girls! What a lovely interview/meeting you had! I wish I had been there :plush27:. I am not sure I recognize all voices, there are some fans asking him questions. One voice sounds more often and louder than others, probably because the person was close to the camera. Is it Irina? Well, since I am not sure, I'll just call "Fans" when I translate the girls' questions briefly.

VIDEO PART 1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XczaxjlfUyU

Fans: Today is not an Olympic day, not the Worlds and yet you looked so committed in your skating. You did it for whom? For the committee, for the specialists?

Zhenya: For you. For you- my fans, for myself, for Piseev (girls: :-) ha-ha-ha), for Gorshkov, for Mutko, well... for everybody!

Fans: How is your knee?

Zhenya: It's okay, more or less, but it still hurts.

Fans: How does the operation change your training routine?

Zhenya: Well, I am trying to keep the schedule normal. But if it hurts too much, I just stop training. If it doesn't hurt, I'll keep it going. But recently because of the test skating I had to train in any case. By the way today I was happy that I didn't feel strong pain when I landed a quad at the training. At a warm-up I touched the ice with hands but the pain in the knee was not awful. The most difficult part to do now, after the operation, is to sit in a sit spin. Also, I had to warm-up the body longer than usual. If I don't do it, the pain in the knee becomes unbearable. But don't worry! I'll do it! I had tougher times in my life.

Fans: Can you tell us a little more about your new programs? Everybody is very interested to know.

Zhenya: The SP will be the same that we planned from the start. The FP was changed. At first we started working on another FS, but then we changed the program and made absolutely another one.

Fans: We asked because Flade wrote in her interview that you chose the music for FS but for SP- not yet.
Another fan: Flade took that interview ages ago!

Zhenya: Yes, that's true. That interview took place long time ago. The point is my new programs, both SP and FS, are ready. We haven't finished footworks yet. My new choreographer is Irina Sharonova. She is not that famous but she is very smart. She is from St-Petersburg and she teaches at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory. This year I tried to work with Zhulin, I worked with Lambiel, I planned to work with Browning. David Avdish is my friend, my choregrapher and the person who prepares me for the skating- stretch my body, etc. We discussed with Mishin a new choreographer and decided to work with Irina. We particularly wanted to work with a female choreographer, we think it will bring some new plastic lines in my skating.

Fans: Why your cooperation with Zhulin wasn't continued?

Zhenya: We worked with him and made one program that we thought would be my new FS. But then we changed our mind. It's just not mine yet (about Zhulin's FS- *letsy).

Fans: Have you ever thought at your camp in Italy, and especially after the operations, about finishing your career?

Zhenya: Yes, I thought, more than once. One day I got up, I felt fine, I worked hard, etc. On another day I just couldn't get up, I couldn't control my body, my head, I just wanted to hang my skates somewhere and fly far away on holiday. I sometimes felt angry with myself. It's really hard to come back for the second time, much harder than the first time.

Fans: What inspires you? Yana? (girls- :hi_hi_hi: )

Zhenya: Yana always inspires me. But also, I have the target, I have the idea and I have the desire to skate. Not just skate as #2 or #3, but as #1 of course. I want to skate in Olympics. Not just participate there but I want to win. I alread told in my previous interviews that I see this season as a mid-step. My main target is 2014 year. Before that I want to jump a new quad. I had some successful attemps of 4S and 4Lutz before the operation. But now, after the operation, it's impossible for me to do that stuff. For now.

Fans: What do your doctors say? How long time will the reabilitation take?

Zhenya: It depends. You can't predict it. When they operated my right knee, I could get all my skating stuff back in a month. Of course I felt some pain but in general it was okay. But with the left knee things are not that fine. My current diagnosis is related to bone tissues (hell knows how to translate that med term- *letsy :-( ). Before between the bones there was a full cartilage. Then they cut a part of my meniscus and now the bones are rubbing each other directly. It's not that horrible, the docs say, but I shouldn't overexercise my left knee for sometime.

Fans: Your global target is Sochi. But about your plans for this year?

Zhenya: My current one is the Championship of Russia. If I made it to the team, I will go further, to the Europeans and Worlds.

Fans: After this test skate what do you think about our team?

Zhenya: You saw everything, right?

Fans: Yes, we did, and we were disappointed a lot.

Zhenya: Well, I am sure everybody will do his best. We shouldn't think that if the guys couldn't skate well now, so they wouldn't be able to skate well in the future too. That's just not the right way of thinking. Everyone will skate well, with quads, footsteps, combos, etc. Actually, I shouldn't think about how poorly they skated. I should think about my own skating and do my job.

Fans: What about Switzerland and the promised surprise? We are dying to know!

Zhenya: You'll see it soon in the magazine "Hello".

Fans: Will it be a big surprise indeed?

Zhenya: Well, it depends. For me it was a very big surprise and I am interested to know what will come after that.

Fans: Our shouting before the skating to support you, does it disturb you? We are not on your way to concentrate?

Zhenya: NO! I am really grateful to all my fans and I told that in the interview to "Komsoml'skaya Pravda". Your support, your cheering, the banners that I see everywhere, all this helps me a lot and I feel much happier. Please keep doing that!

Fans: How does the new judging system reflect on your training?

Zhenya. It changed things entirely. The FS became much more difficult. For example the footstep that I did today is only of Level 1. It looks emotional but technically it is only Level 1, because it doesn't have a lot of stuff that Level 2-4 requires. I personally like when the footwork looks impressive. But the current judging system requires to perform a lot of tricks during the footstep. Sometimes it might look boring and less colorful when you are in a hush to perform all of them in order to hit the right level. The effectiveness might suffer but the scores will win.

Fans: I agree. Let's take ice dancing. I used to watch it a lot because it was interesting. Now I don't watch it at all because they all skate the same things.
Another fan: That needs a really good choreographer to succeed in both- effectiveness and pleasing the technical commettee.
One more fan: Chan, for example, with his huge second mark. Judges do love him! Or maybe it's because of his origin, he is Canadian after all (girls: :plush42: ).

Zhenya: Chan is good. He is doing a great work. Let him skate and I will tell my word in Sochi. (girls: ;;-))) ::yaz-yk: )

VIDEO PART 3:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJjQ_xrZhVw

Zhenya: Today (on 3rd- *letsy) I was disappointed that I didn't do a quad. I should have tried it.

Fans: We heard you had a new tattoo.

Zhenya: Yes, I did (showed it). It' s a scorpion. Here I have "Yana" (in Japanese ヤナ- *letsy.) But when we with Yanochka have our children, I will write their names and the name "Egor" too. So here I'll have the names of all my children that the scorpion will be protecting.

Fans: We want to see your son Egor. Can we do that?

Zhenya: Of course you can. He is in St-Petersburg, training in an ice-hokey school almost every day. He is cute, active and energetic. He tried the skates for the very first time when he was 2 and a half. Then he didn't attend any school for sometime. But now we enrolled him in an ice-hockey club.

Fans: His mother doesn't object?

Zhenya: No, Masha is happy with this choice.

Fans: Have you thought about enrolling him in FS?
Another fan: Come one! You should pity your own children! ( :ni_zia: - *letsy)

Zhenya: No, we don't want him to be a figure skater. That's a too difficult sport, especially now. It's better to be in a game sport. You know, if you don't feel well, you can always wait for a while on the bench (joking, laughing). Of course any sport is very difficult. We chose ice- hockey. Maybe because it is on skates too! I am sure Egor will be fine there.
Thanks to you all a lot! :ki_ss:

True!!! A lot of them don´t even care about Yagudin. :plush29: They are more busy to trash Evgeni on Internet than to follow Yagudin´s shows. They should be ashamed! :plush43:
I am sure they will trash Yagudin too with the same obsession when the moment would be right. They are professional trolls who pretend not to be the ones. For years have been following major FS general sites + fans' sites, often under the same usernames and writing the same nasty stuff in one or two languages about anyone or anything: skaters, coaches, journalists, people they sat together during the competitions, etc. Basically, no matter what to bitch about, just let them bitch. Classic losers, in short. :plush42: ::yaz-yk:

Re: Женя на тренировках || Evgeni on training

I think we should let Plushy's team to worry about the movements in the program. After all they are professionals :mi_ga_et: . As for the commentary, those are personal opinions, even the presenters were professionals (which I believe they were), still personal opinions. We should keep them in mind but not regard them as word of GOD. :hi_hi_hi:

Besides, there are still 2 years to the Olympics, as Plushy said once, now it is time for experiments. :-)

I´m not talking about their personal opinions, if they like Plushy´s footwork or not. They are absolutly right that judges should have no difficulty in asigning the levels, this is a fact, not a personal opinion.
Let´s be realistic, Evgeni´s footwoork in 2010 wasn´t great and it will cost him a lot of points if he does not improve it. :-( I remember people were saying the same in 2009, when he came back, that he had plenty of time to work on the footwork until the Olys, nevertheless it wasn´t enough to achieve sensational GOE. And he had the same team, Mishin and D. Advish.

I guess we will have to wait until after Plushy's first competition to know the result. But like I said, this time, there is enough time for Plushy to experiment all the options before the Olympics. So do not worry too much and just be happy that Plusy is in great shape and a high spirit of training :plush45:

Of course I´m happy that Plushy is in a great shape and so eager to train and compete. But I don´t want him to train in vain, to be in excellent form and lose because of the programs. :-(

First of all, my apologies for yet another very long and rambling post.

If I recall correctly, Evgeni's footwork in 2010 were level 3, not the very highest but by no means below average. Also, I recall that at the 2010 Olympics, Lysacek received some highly debated level 4 ratings on his footwork sequences. (Evgeni himself mentioned the fact that other skaters had the levels of their footwork raised without any actual changes.) I agree that there should not be personal opinions involved in assigning levels to elements in skating, but I do not believe this is the case in reality. And there certain is a great deal of personal opinions involved in assigning GOE scores, and frequently these are not even opinions about the skater's actual performance, but motivated by off-ice political or personal factors. The judges have amply proven this, for instance Joe Inman with his email, and other judges in openly defending that email.

We all want Evgeni to get the maximal amount of score he can in competitions, of course. There is no argument about that. However, it may be that not having Level 4 footwork with +3 GOE will cost him a lot of points, or it may be that simply being Evgeni Plushenko will cost him a lot of points. I guess, maybe a point to consider is that no matter how much we talk about how he should "play by the rules", when the people who are supposed to apply those rules do so according to their own agendas and favoritism, then these are things a skater and his team cannot necessarily change. And personally, I have never seen any FS fan--of any kind--claim that judges have no agendas.

As for what happened at Vancouver, one can blame Evgeni's footwork or transitions or other aspects of his choreography, but to me--just my own personal opinion, of course--this both ignores the realities of Evgeni's physical condition at the time, and somewhat misses the point. My own belief is that Evgeni should have won at Vancouver as it were , based on how he and the others performed at the time (others may disagree). Of course, this is absolutely not to say that he cannot, or should not, or need not improve on various aspects of his programs for the coming seasons, but merely my feelings on that particular season and competition, in and of itself--since it was mentioned. In any case, things have changed since 2010--Evgeni's condition, the amount of time he has, the general state of men's skating, the rules themselves.

We certain can talk about different aspects of Evgeni's skating, and talk about what each of us likes or does not like. I do understand your desire to see Evgeni win; I am sure that we all share that desire. However--I hope you will pardon me, and it certainly is not my intention to start an argument with you--frankly, and again just for myself, I find it absolutely incomprehensible to suggest that any skater would "train in vain" just because he and his team choose to do things one way and not another. (I want to emphasize the word "choose" here--based on Evgeni's condition, style, abilities, and convictions about figure skating. Because I absolutely do not believe, even for a fraction of a second, that Evgeni and his team do not know what they are doing.) Right now, all we have is a few seconds of practice. But even if (and this is nothing but an if) the competitions did happen and he didn't get the highest transition score, or footwork level or GOE, whatever, to say that he "trained in vain"--just to be clear, I am only talking about these particular words--is, in my honest opinion, inconsiderate of his (and his team's) effort, and of their understanding of figure skating. And I am not even saying this just because it's Evgeni: I would say this about any other skater as well.

And back to Evgeni's condition. I am extremely happy and relieved that he is physically better now, and that he is in no pain. I hope fervently and everyday that things stay this way. Nevertheless, he will be 29 years old in a week. His accumulation of old injuries is huge, even for this sport. A couple of weeks ago there was this whole story by Vaitsekhovskaya about what terrible state Evgeni's knees were in, how his muscles had atrophied, how the treatments failed, etc. That report turned out to be a lie--as many of us expected at the time--but just because Evgeni is in good physical condition, it does not mean that all of a sudden things are or should be easy for him. And this does not mean if he doesn't do things this way or that way or get all level 4 with +3 GOE it would be because he's "a fool" (to quote Yagudin's words, or because he doesn't want to win, or because he and his team does not understand how the current scoring system works. Because absolutely nothing of what Evgeni does on ice is easy (no matter how easy he makes it look). Remember how he said this second comeback is many times harder than the first? I believe him completely in this, and it doesn't change.

Please don't get me wrong, I completely understand that you want to see Evgeni get all the points he can, and that's where you're coming from. I want the same, and I'm sure all fans want the same. However, we fans are just sitting behind computer screens. We're not the one on the ice. We're not the one who's had a dozen (or is it more? I've lost count) operations. We're not the one who has to deal with the politics of the ISU and the Russian Fed, and every kind of malicious people and everything else. We're not the one fighting against time and the laws of nature. I'm only speaking for myself, but my feeling is that I can hope and wish him to win or to give us another great program or another great piece of art (or perhaps to put it more selfishly, something I love), but I myself cannot in good conscience expect or demand anything more out of him. Because Evgeni has already given us far, far more than anyone could possibly expect. Anything else would only be an extra gift.

(Again, I apologize for this long rant. I am a wordy person, I guess.)

Евгений Плющенко: «Яна Рудковская вернула меня в спорт»
26.10.2011

Evgeni Plushenko: "YANA RUDKOVSKAYA BROUGHT ME BACK TO SPORT"

In an exclusive interview for "AiF" the famous figure skater told about his comeback to sport and also about why he wanted to quit skating this summer.

Evgeni Plushenko promised to come back to the competitive skating this season. However he wasn't listed for the Cup of Russia. Has he changed his mind? He doesn't want to skate in Sochi anymore?

E.P.: What do you mean by "changed my mind"?! I want to be the first modern figure skater who took part in four Olympic Games. I am dreaming about Sochi. It's true that I had to postpone my first start this season due to some objective reasons. Now I am training in full, polishing my new programs, and I am doing that with the broken hand. So, if everything goes as we are planning, I hope I will compete in the Russian Nationals in Saransk this December.

AiF: This summer you told you almost gave up everything.

E.P.: In the summer camp in Italy I felt so horrible and exhausted that I thought I wouldn't be able to make it through. The traumas, non-stop pain in muscles, tiring training sessions for 5-6- hours... I was on the edge. Yes, I wanted to quit. I didn't believe that I would restore my quads and 3axels. I couldn't land anything successfully. My coach, my choreographer, my wife Yana... they all helpd me to start believing in myself. I don't know what I would do without them.

AiF: How is your leg? Is it healed completely?

E.P.: I think so. Recently I went to Germany again, where they checked my left knee and gave the next injection. Well, I hope everything is and will be fine.

AiF: Do you not trust the domestic medical care?

E.P: Unfortunately, I don't. Once I was treated by a famous professor in Moscow. My knee started hurting. Later in Germany the local doctors told me that the injections to the knee had not been done properly- it missed the joint. Since then I am doing all necessary medical procedures only overseas.

AiF: You are saying Sochi is your main priority. But we can read the stuff like: Plushenko and Rudkovskaya celebrated the second wedding anniversary, they attended Baskov's birthday party, sued a tabloid... Don't you think that the preparation for the Olympics means the full commitment, without some fussy social occasions?

E.P: I have never skipped any single training session. All birthdays and wedding anniversaries were on my days-off. About the lawsuit against the tabloid, well... that's another matter. I made my name thanks to my hard honest work. And if somebody is trying to mix my name with dirt, I can't forgive it. Recently some astrologist on TV foretold the foolish nonsense: that Yana and I will divorce in 4 years and I will date a man. How can people say such things? And why should I forgive them? The tabloid that we sued wrote that I and Yana made a bogus marriage. We won our day at court but unfortunately the compensation of the moral damage in Russia is too small (20,000 roubles- AiF; =about $668-*letsy). If the compensation of the moral distress was the same as they have in the West, mass media would think twice before writing their stuff: is it really worthy writing lies and nonsense if you will have to pay for that and pay a lot.

AiF: Once you were a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St-Petersburg (city parliament-*letsy).

E.P: I am still a deputy.

AiF: Sergej Mironov said somewhere that you are not anymore. (S. Mironov is an ex-representative of St-Petersburg in the upper house of the Russian parliament and its former chairman, currently- a deputy of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament- *letsy)

E.P: Sergej Mikhailovich said that Plushenko won't run for the State Duma and for the Legislative Assembly of St-Petersburg for the second term.

AiF: Why?

E.P: I will be training and preapring for Sochi. It's impossible to do two things at the same time: politics and big sport.

AiF: Then why did you become a deputy in the first place?

E.P: In 2006, when I became a member of the party "Fair Russia", I quit the competitive sport. At that moment I didn't plan to take part in any competitions, only in ice shows. Also I was planning to open a skating school, to train the youth. But at that moment I hadn't met my current wife yet. It was her who brought me back to big sport. I started skating again, won the Russian Nationals, the European championship, got silver in the Olympics.... And I understood- my true mission is figuire skating. Politics is just not mine.

AiF: I read somewhere that when you were a deputy your salary was 500,000 roubles a year (about $16,600- *letsy). What exactly did you do for that money?

E.P: I often took leaves without pay, I was often on sick lists. Well, I am not actually sure I got such money. As a deputy my job was to communicate with citizens of St-Petersburg and deal with their problems.... Also, in the politics there are too many "pitfalls", which I don't really want to discuss. At the same time I can't exclude that I won't return to politics after Sochi, and this time for a really serious work.

AiF: In our last conversation you said that the wound that you got from judges in Vancouver, as well as from Russian FS officials, will never be healed. Do you think the same now too?

E.P: No, I forgot everything because I prefer to live my current life, to live for the future. The main point now is such unjustice shouldn't happen again, in Sochi. That's true, I sometimes rewatch my both SP and LP in Vancouver and I am still proud of how I skated them.

AiF: Also, you said that an American Evan Lysacek didn't deserve to win. Meanwhile, he also said he is going to skate in Sochi. Moreover, he mentioned he is ready to forgive you generously for all your statements about his win. Do you need his forgiveness?

E.P: Forgiveness? Well, I think Lysacek is a good skater. But an average one, he is not unique, not special. And I am not going to change my mind about him. The skaters like Chan, Yagudin, Urmanov, Petrenko, Browning, Boitano, they are unique. And Lysacek... I still think that he won thanks to judges.

AiF: Btw, a Canadian Chan set a new score records on the recent World Championship in Moscow. It seems like while you are treating your traumas, the figure skating took a huge step forward. Are you sure you will be able to reach the right level?

E.P: Let's wait for the competitons and we will see.

AiF: Who do you think is your main competitior now?

E.P: I can give you ten names minimum: Canadian, American, Japanese, Russian... There are a lot of really good skaters around. Still, nobody could land my combos 4T-3T-3L and 3A-0.5-3F.

AiF: Zhenya, come on.. tell us, do you feel scared that you might lose in Sochi?

E.P: I am not afraid to lose. It is sport. I know very well that young skaters grew up seriously in skating. My goal is to skate worthily and to do my best. And to get a medal. If I, at the age of 31yo, get one more Olympic medal, that will be a really great result. Nobody skated at such an age. But I will try.

Евгений Плющенко: "В шоу мне скучно"
...
Translation :ni_zia:
-------------------------------

Evgeni Plushenko: "I'm bored in the shows"

In recent months, Plushenko rarely gives extensive interview. What's a pity. How is convinced correspondent of "SE", 29-year-old skater, who is preparing once again to return to the sports, has something to say. To make it clear: why the champion of Turin and silver medalist in Salt Lake City and Vancouver (as well as three-time world champion, six-time champions of Europe and the other, and other) needs another Olympic epic?

MY FUTURE IS SOCHI

- The most important is now, probably, the question: how is your health?
- Excellent. I am fully working. Not so long ago there was a problem with my hand - a fracture, but nothing, everything was restored. All bends, on training beautiful hands doing (smiles). Preparing for the nearest competitions. If I succeed, it will be a Panin Memorial. But the main start - Russian Nationals, which will be held at the end of December in Saransk. What will happen after that, we'll see. If I take away on European and World championships, I will skate further.

- Start in Saransk is not under question?
- No. It was planned already in the summer. Alexei Nikolaevich (Mishin) and me, originally decided to skip the "Grand Prix", since I had surgery on my knees. I did not want to risk, to sign up and then withdraw. Still, we are preparing for the future, so to speak. And the future - it's the Olympics in Sochi. I want to try to participate on my fourth Olympics, no one before me did not. I want to put my personal record in figure skating, try my force. I am ready for any outcome. But my main task - worthily do my job.

- Not so long ago in your account on Facebook was published a statement, whose essence is the following: Plushenko will perform at the European and World championships, if his health allows him, but nothing more specific can be said now. Whereby it was dictated?
- Thereby, that in the sport I am very long time. In the robot you can twist the screw, pour oil to begin to work like new. But we are not robots, than people, we may experience force majeure the circumstances. We are now, with my great team, even in training try to carefully monitor the process, to somewhere not pull a muscle, do not skate unnecessary free program. All work is under control. There is no such: I want to jump a quad, or a new quad. And, God forbid, something breaks. No - now we have a goal to work calmly.

- This statement should have been a response to numerous questions on subject: "And what will happen next?".
- Yes, everything will be normal. Well, yes, people ask. But all what I said before the Olympics in Vancouver, and directly in 2010, as a result I fulfilled. There was Vancouver? It was. Plushenko's back? Back. Won the European Championship? Won. Although not skated for three years. Then all also shouting: it's impossible. Yes, it was extremely difficult - to return after a three-year hiatus. But I'm back, because I properly done everything with my team. And because I have a character.
Now I'm trying to set a goal and achieve it. This goal is for three years, well, can be considered, already for two and a half, tighten my shape, my body, so that with the dignity (emphasis on that word) to perform at the home Olympics. That's what I want to do.

- Your personal task is clear. But sports management and fans, articulate their expectations a much more ambitious. For them, in the Russian men's figure skating Plushenko remains the Olympic hope the number one, no matter on what. It is a pressure on you?
- Once again I will say: I already skate so long. And I know: if I pay attention to this pressure, any results will not be achieved. So I'm trying not to react.
We have young athletes who are eager to beat me. The thirst is such, like when you wake up with a hangover, and there is no water. This is not only in Russian, the whole world, in fact. But I'm even curious to look at it. All these views askance - I'm interested to watch them. I understand what they want, but I will try that their desire is not fulfilled. It will be hard, after all the guys is strong and, above all, young. And the age in the sport is very important.

AT FIRST I YELLED AT MYSELF ON THE ICE

- How serious were the health problems which you have encountered in the fall?
- Serious enough. After the operation I started too early, began to forces training. Because of stupidity. I wanted to quickly get involved, to do something new. I had the surgery, and already two weeks later I started skating. And it was a mistake, because the month I did not need to do anything, at all. We had quietly drawn into, because the time was anyway enough.
While in September was yet a doctor's mistake: he gave me an injection in the knee which ended up not in the joint, than in the fat body next to him. Fluid was resorbed very long, and bothered me at a hundred percent! Generally, interfere with training. And I missed a month. Honestly, I'm in this season already three times returned and three times stopped. But anyway, when there is a goal, you can do anything.

- Then there was talks, that the problem with your leg can put a cross on your return. They were not without foundation?
- Here's the situation: you train, and suddenly starts to pain the leg. Doctors take pictures and say: yes, this is effects of the meniscus. Then starts inflamation of ligaments. And then comes the doctor, whom to me highly recommended as a unique specialist, and makes a mistake, which resulted with my expulsion from the sport for a month. Of course, I tried to do something, injected the leg. (*perhaps his therapy on machines in Moscow - cekoni's comment). But I not could go on the ice.
A month did not skate during the season - it's a big risk to get out of shape. The body ceases to feel the ice. There were moments when I realized that would be impossible to recover, once again to achieve, what already been done. And it was done at that time much of that. So, of course, my hands dropped. Fortunately, helped me my wife Yana and my team. Cheer me up, found some words. Here, thanks to them and I hold on to this day.
Of course, it is difficult. It's one thing, if I was 18 years old. Then I did not think about anything: with unsheathed sword - and only forward. Now is more complicated. And this is not fear of losing. It is harder to overcome the injuries. There are many titles, secured life, but I should, in fact, start all over again. Here, through it's difficult to pass. But it is interesting to me. Do you understand? I find it very interesting. How is in figure skating? In 18 - 20 y.o., maximum 25, people become champions and think, well, why we must continue to skate? Indeed, why, if there is a shows - such a quiet pensioner's life (smiles). There's no need to jump the triple axels, do not do quads. But it's so boring!
I skated three years in the shows before Vancouver. It's monstrously boring. Everything is so monotonous, moving from town to town, anything new, you do not grow up. I forgot what is the adrenaline. And I wanted it. So I started to play hockey, football, paintball, golf, extreme driving, ride a motorcycle. Still, this is not that! That's why I took a decision to return. Of course, a tremendous impetus give me Yana, who said: you are still young and you can calmly skate. So, skate!
At first, it was insanely hard. When began the morning and evening trainings, all hurts me - in the morning, I not could stand up at all. Yelled at myself on the ice, because I nothing could, specifically, so yelling. People were shocked, they thought, perhaps: he is crazy, or what?
But I will say this: the show - it's great, but for myself I realized that I'm designed for the sport. God gave me talent, and still allows you to move forward. This means that I do not have so far to go from figure skating as an athlete. The show will be after - it's the next step. I have many plans, and they are implemented.

- Alexei Mishin said that the hardest time was this summer when you not immediately found faith in your strength. What was the matter?
- We arrived in the camp in Italy, and there began insanely hard days for me. Very powerful general physical preparation. Plus a lot of work indoors, choreography and work directly with Mishin. Body simply can not withstand. I could not recover and did not skate for three days. Then we went to Venice and other cities, just walking, taking pictures.
And then, when we returned to St. Petersburg, it was hard. Long time I entered into the form. Like, it seems, one training session conducted properly, the next day when I come - nothing does not work. I not could do trivial triple jump. But has a gained a scheme. And this scheme finally paid off. Although the process of obtaining forms continues and today.

- Apart from you, Mishin in the group have and Artur Gachinsky and Elizaveta Tuktamisheva's. It turns out, that coach can not give you all the attention, all the time...
- Well, why I should be capricious? At the beginning, even when in the group came Elena Sokolova, I said: "Alexei Nikolaevich, to avoid misunderstanding, let's do this: she will skate on the one ice, I will in the next." Lena and me had separated trainings. Because it is impossible with two eyes follow a few athletes, who jump at different ends of the rink.
Here, and now we have divided the ice. In the group is everything the great: a good team, great guys. I want to congratulate Liza on a great start. She has a good future. I do not exclude, that she will become Olympic champion, if she continue with work on that way. She is "plow-girl". And listen her coaches. And Artur has bright future. In the preseason, he made three different quads, I personally saw it. I wish them luck.

DOLCE & GABBANA GOES TO SOCHI

- How difficult was from an arranged life, popularity and social events, return to a rigorous training regime, twice a day?
- It can be combined. Here, I trained twice, and went to a concert of Dima Bilan. Today slept - and has already managed to train a half hour. All can be combined, if there is no alcohol, but there is a regime, diet, the right approach. Naturally, I'm trying now to give up of some the activities. Because it's hard. But very selectively combine some things are still possible. (Pause.) Well, what is party? You can go to the party later. Everything will be all the same, even better.
Here I recently went to birthday of boutique a Swiss firm, with which we're releasing in January a joint line of watches. For me, this is a great pride. Design - blue with gold - was my idea. Blue - it's ice, gold - medals. Such sporty casual. I had a dream - to introduce a style of luxury in the sport. And it turns out. I like expensive things, beautiful costumes. If you take my own costumes for performances - it's also luxury, them always worked some famous designer. Now, by the way, we are negotiating with Dolce & Gabbana for costumes in the future. Perhaps, for Olympics.

- And why you were not satisfied with other proposals for (the existing) the watches?
- I was not satisfied with design. And that I no took part in the making. And this is what I wanted. I'm not a great expert for watches, but very like them. Just to give a name and say: it's my watch - this is stupid.

- Speaking about the costumes ... Who makes them for you this season?
- So far, there is none. But there is a design, and now we choose the options. When I will come back to St. Petersburg, I will do it. Maybe I will take the new young guys who are eager to work, full of ideas. It will be interesting.

- This will be something in your the usual style? Or you go to the experiment?
- Well, the bike does not want to invent. It will be stage costumes for figure skating. Pretty interesting. Not casual. Will be nice (smiles).

- That is, simple pants with a shirt, quite popular now in the skaters will not be?
- No.

- All the details about new programs you have intentionally kept secret. Informations which recently appeared in the press, quoting Mishin, is true?
- I do not know what they write.

- Short Program - a compilation of Vanessa Mae, Free - "Tango" by Edvin Marton.
- (Pause.) I do not know, from where they got it Vanessa Mae. But Free indeed will be "Tango" from "Moulin Rouge", but rewritten by Edvin. I want passion, more emotion. Love, some of the image. Therefore, this is Free program. While Short program is not Vanessa Mae. But a funny and interesting music, very beautiful, deep and emotional. It consists of two parts: the first - very melodic and soulful, while the latter - very fast. Everyone knows it, it's classic. But arranged.

- Name you wil not tell?
- For a few weeks is Saransk (smiles). Soon you will all see.

- This fall you have changed a lot programs?
- Of course, we have made adjustments. And we do it that so far every day. Something add, somewhere remove.

- You do many suggestions?
- Of course. From the beginning of my career, they could not say just: Do this gesture - and all. I need to first feel the gesture.

- Your programs have seen someone from the experts?
- When I skated in Novogorsk, of course they seen the guys. In St. Petersburg I would like to invite our judges, that they looked and disassembled the spins and the steps. But it will be the final part of the story. And, of course, we were shown to specialists, they are dismantled. Like anything.

- On Panin Memorial will be quadruple?
- We shall see. I do not want to anticipate events.

- It is correctly to say, that for Plushenko the competition without a quad simply can not be?
- No. Maybe without him, I do not exclude. But this applies only for Russian starts. At the international - only with the quad. And not only one.

FIGURE SKATING BECOME MORE COMPLICATED

- Rrecently your old time comrade and a rival Brian Joubert mentioned it was your comeback in Vancouver that inspired him to remain in the sport and go on fighting. Is it a nice feeling?
- (Pause.) I'm glad to inspire. Guess, I deserve that. I respect Brian as an athlete and a man. He's a good person. There is a reason why I invite certain people to my shows, even those who I compete against. Some rivals are rotten, and I can't stand communicating with them, but there are those who beat you, but later approach and say : well done, it just wasn't your day. This is why I skate in the shows with Stephane Lambiel, Joubert, Florant Amodio, the Czech guys Michal Brezina and Tomas Verner.
I was lucky to have greate mentors. For example Elvis Stojko. When I just started competing internationally he was at the final stages of his competitive career, was a 4 times world champion. I was just a 15 y.o. kid who came to his first Grand Prix event, was just starting to land my quads. Back then, if you landed one quad, taking the rest of the program was clean, it mean winning the competition. Stojko approached me, shook my hand and wished me luck.
It was unreal! The 4 times world champion comes to shake my hand, to a young pup, knowing that he can beat him! It was a huge boost for me. I was looking up to those great athletes. But time goes on and now others are looking up to me. It's great! Awesome! This is why I am trying to do something that I will be remembered in 10-20 years from now. So people would say: "Plushenko - that was a worthy skater". Now some already call me a legend. I want them to go on calling me that. (Smiles)

- And you can go to the young athlete and do same thing as Stojko?
- Of course. Once again, I'm not afraid to lose. Figure skating goes forward, I need to be with him. Anything can happen: not enough sleep, injury, something else. And I'm ready for it.

- What feeling left to you from the last stages of the "Grand Prix"?
- I'll say about Patrick Chan. He's a great athlete, very much progressed. But if he does four or five errors, and receives 9 points out of 10, it is a bit wrong. And so, he great skate, great spins, has quadruple jump. Also appeared new Chinese Nan Song with two quad. Athlete is excellent, even unique. But some innovations, surprises to me was not. All can be defeated. The main thing - to do my own job.

- Your training plan for Sochi implies, in principle, performing at the stages of "Grand Prix"?
- In the future will be "Grand Prix", yes. Perhaps one stage, then Russian Nationals, European championship, and so on. Maybe even some small competitions. And then, there is now a new story - Team World Championships which will be held in April.

- You want there to appear?
- Yes! It's very interesting! Well, what is "Grand Prix"? This is an intermediate stage, some kind of "test skating" (обкатка?) . The main thing - it's the titular competitions: European and World championships. How much do I already can win "Grand Prix"? If there are necessary, I will performing there. But generally, I repeat, it's almost as "test skating".

- What do you think regarding the overall aspiration to do quadruples, with what all can not cope?
- It's good. Figure skating has to move forward. Race to 100m every year moving forward, hockey and football are becoming more dynamic, more intelligent. While figure skating in 2010 took a step back. So it's good, that skaters themself, as is say, responded to my call. And I fully support that many in their programs are trying quads.

- If until Sochi all they have learned the quads, by your opinion, what will be needed for success there?
- I think in Sochi will be a need to perform several quads. Although to say exactly how things will go, it's hard. Suddenly, again, they can introduce some new system, and all will again do "3+3". But, hopefully, they will do not impose. Now figure skating in general has become more complicated. And that's progress!

Re: Чемпионат России 2012 || Russian Nationals 2012, 24-28.1

So happy that our Plushy is back! plush48 plush48 Of course he's still far from his top condition and the jumps are not all perfect yet, but remember everything that has happened this year, how only three months ago some "medical expert" nearly destroyed his knee with his botched injection, and how he was still in rehab by late September, how he only began to get his quad back a few days before the competition started....I can only agree with Tarasova, "this is a phenomeon".

I have been watching the SP a few more times, and I love the music for it more and moe, especially the fact that the first part is so different from the second. The spins and footwork are better than before and have new elements to them. Their levels still can be increased, but from what Plushy said after the competition, I believe this will happen. (One thing I want to mention is that I remember in an old interview, from maybe 05 or 06, Plushy once said that he felt serpentine sequences were under-appreciated under the new COP system, and he would like to see elements of it more in programs.)

I have seen some people criticize this program for having all three jumps in the first part. It is true that nowadays, it's considered "better" to have everything "spaced out evenly" in programs. So maybe this is a technical flaw, but I am starting to think that "evenness" is not necessarily the right thing for this particular program, if only from an artistic point of view (though I don't know how much "art" is worth in judges' eyes). It seems to me the climax of the program, the actual "storm", is still in the second part, in the footwork sequence, so to me, the program does not feel front-loaded.

Perhaps I am over-interpreting things, but if we really see the program as a storm, then there is a difference between how it feels before the storm--the sense of pressure and heaviness in the air, the rising wind, the feeling of expectation. Then the real storm comes in an outburst of fury and passion, and the tension is released. To my own ears, I think something of this is reflected in the music for the program. So maybe it makes sense that the first part of the program is so different from the second part, in terms of the types of elements it contains, and in terms of rhythm and feeling. And jumps (including the long strokes leading up to them) have a different rhythm compared to spins and footwork. What I am vaguely feeling is that while having all three jumps in the first part is generally considered a flaw in a SP program, it can be argued that in this case, there is a certain aesthetic justification for it, which I actually find extremely interesting.

Of course, I don't want to interpret any of Plushy's programs too literally. Again, this is probably just my own mind making things up, but such themes and feelings remind me of the "Sturm und Drang"--Storm and Stress--of Romanticism. Performance-wise, I get the sense Plushy is also not yet at 100%: after all, he himself said how he needed to overcome the big psychological barrier of competing again. But the beauty of his movements, the aristocratic aura, and the sense of passion are in full force alreay And of course, the combination of grace and power, and also of charisma.

If I were to nitpick the SP performace, based on nothing but my personal notions and tastes, maybe I could even say that possibly there was actually a little bit too much charisma for this program. Partly this was from comparison with the practice video from before the SP, but somehow I get the suspicion that the blown kiss before the step sequence was not actually in the choreography.... ::yaz-yk: And he also replaced the ending pose with a fist pump and another blown kiss. I am of two minds about it. On one hand it is clear that Plushy was just returning again for the first time, he was in love with competition and the audience and he's happy, and that makes me happy. On the other hand, I got the sense it did "break character" somewhat, and just for my own tastes, I felt it broke the tension a little. Just for this particular program, I wonder what it would look like if he made it a little more...not colder exactly, but a little more alone , perhaps. (Of course, I am not saying he should do things one way or another, or that others need to interpret things similarly as me. I am absolutely certain that every artistic choice he makes is his own. But I am a bit curious.)

Once again, I apologize for yet another terribly long post....I know all of this nonsense--based on no more than my own overactive imagination--do not necessarily make it fit into the strict mold of the likes of Lori Nichol would consider a "good" program, but somehow I can't help going on about it....(as usual)

Re: Женя в Твиттере & ВКонтакте || Evgeni at Twitter & VKont

^ Seconded. The SP costume has a unique color, not for Plush only, but in general this deep violet is not widely used in men's FS. Also, that ice pattern connetcs very harmonically with the real ice. I don't know why some people critisized his LP costume. For me it looks funky, very unconvenational (just like the story itself), carrying the features of that eccentric era in a humorous way. ::yaz-yk:

I think Russia should obey their usual selection policies.
I think Evgeni will compete in Chanada no matter what :plush34: . Russia needs 2 or 3 spots for Sochi. Even if Evgeni misses the podium :plush44: , he for sure will be in top 10, so Russia will have 2 spots. Artur is less likely to be able to guarantee such result.

Re: Женя и его тренер А.Н.Мишин || Evgeni and his coach Mish

I think Russia should obey their usual selection policies. Use Nationals to choose who to send to Europeans. Use Europeans to choose who to send to Worlds.
I don't know if Evgeni is doing any GP event this year or Europeans. Maybe they want to prepair him for Worlds, so they have to decide now who is going to Words, Plushy or Arthur. Worlds are in Canada and it will be a very tough competition for Evgeni.

I think Plushy still has a lot fans in NA no matter what. Those people bashing Plushy on NA forums :plush43: are only a very small portion who probably won't watch live anyway. People who pay the tickets are those wishing to witness great performances from the skaters, and we all know Plushy loves competitions and performing :plush33: . So I do not worry about him not being well received in the arena.

Media is another story, but I think he has come through so many years of competitions he knows what to expect from the media and would not be affected by them.

And he surely would like a "revenge" to show the world who is the best plush48 no matter how tough the competition would be.

PCH: The figure skating is much more than jumping. The Japanese are always very technically skilled skaters, they are better than me, better than anyone else. But there is another aspect of this sport - the spark, which makes you able to run a program and after the people has a sigh: what a pity that it's over. Maybe i have this advantage against them. :sh_ok: Anyway, I want to be always better and better. If you compare this year with last year's programs, you can see how much improved , and this I am very happy because I will probably grow again next year. :plush46: The smallest details matter a lot.

-What do you think, that someone says you are overscored?

PCH: It's not my job to argue about my scores, but I try to create something wonderful on the ice, something that the judges can understand, feel and appreciate. It is very easy to show at someone, how much overscored he is, but if someone really understand to figure skating, can watch the details and see the differences between the skaters. Before anybody criticizes someone, look at the programs again and again, paying attention to every detail. I love skating and I love enchant the audience and the judges. ::yaz-yk:

-Nice, but the audience didn't like so much the result, booed your scores. What do you think?

PCH: It was a long season, and who follow the figure skating know exactly how much work it was to get the job done. That is why I want to enjoy my second world champion title, I didn't deal with the public. I didn't hear any whistling or clapping, because for me this sport is much more than I would be nervous because of some people, who not liked my production. I am glad that they are interested in figure skating so much and came to look the World Championships. Well, they didn't like the result, but what can we do? They are French.

Are you 100% sure that Evgeni wants to attend Worlds next year, because I'm not? :-( If he goes I think it will be because the Federation will force him. :plush34:

I remember, you thought, that Evgeni won't go to ECH.... :a_g_a: and his programs are awful :hi_hi_hi: , but we could see you was wrong :mi_ga_et:
