Anya, I feel just like you! That picture is one of my favorite shots too! I don't know the reason why you love it, but I can tell you mine.. I love that picture because I can clearly see his soul coming out from the paper; I can feel his humanity, his truest side. He's not a machine, he's flesh and blood, and he came on that olympic rink after a hard workout, fighting the physical pain and the age no longer green (for a skater). I love this picture because I see in it the bloody injustice he suffered: he deserved the gold, but a piece of wood stolen it to him. In the picture he's suffering, but he's kissing his audience. He's suffering, but able to give us another precious gift. I apologize, my English is not good enough to well explain my feelings.
