- Конечно, было волнительно выходить на лёд. Но всё-таки я волновался чуть меньше, чем вчера, потому что на утренней тренировке сделал три из четырёх четверных прыжков. И это придало мне уверенности. В целом, прокат получился достойным. Доказал самому себе. В общем-то, я сделал всю программу.

Я на миллион процентов осознал, что вернулся в спорт. Но мне с моими 12 операциями загадывать по-прежнему не хочется - я живу настоящим. Да, я заглядываю в будущее, но в спорте живу только сегодняшним днём. Просто иной раз бывает, что тяжело выходить на тренировку, не то, что откатать на соревнованиях. Но, слава Богу, мне ничего не помешало. Я очень доволен четверным прыжком, доволен сложной программой, которую сделал. И больше всего я доволен, что не устал! На последней дорожке я катался с улыбкой, эмоционально. На самом деле, перед стартом я переболел ОРЗ - видите, я постоянно кашляю, но это уже остаточное явление. И я всё равно выступил.

Напомним, что Плющенко выиграл соревнования, установив новый личный рекорд по сумме баллов за короткую и произвольную программы - 263,25.

Чемпион Volvo Open Cup Евгений Плющенко рассказал, что его программа к Олимпиаде станет еще сильнее.

- Сегодняшняя произвольная программа — это 80 процентов, почти максимум. Я не стал прыгать второй четверной, хотя хотел. Алексей Николаевич и на тренировке, и на разминке перед соревнованиями говорил, что второй четверной прыгать не нужно. Просил: подумай, посмотри. После первого четверного я до последнего шел на второй, и только за три секунды до прыжка у меня в голове что-то поменялось, и я сказал себе: «Давай, сегодня сделаем не полноценную программу...» Я имею в виду, не с двумя четверными, которые будут обязательно нужны на Олимпийских играх.

Чего ждать дальше? Восстановления, усиления программ — их надо накатывать, параллельно с этим нужно приводить себя в форму, нужно худеть, нужно качать мышцы. Работы очень много! Если честно, единственное, о чем я пока думаю - как завтра вернусь в Петербург и поеду на охоту. А дальше мы потихоньку будем готовиться к жизни. Как я уже не раз говорил, главное - выступить на четвертой Олимпиаде и попасть на ней в тройку призеров.

Russia’s Evgeni Plushenko has confirmed his comeback to the big sport by winning 2013 Volvo Cup yesterday.

An athlete, who spent nine months for the recovery, rose in Riga to the personal best score by the total amount of points – 263.25.

Free program, which Evgeni performed yesterday and which is called “The Best of Plushenko”, left no chance to competitors. There were high speed, great expressiveness and, of course, the high technical part.

Plushenko showed a complete set of complex technical elements: a quadruple toe loop, a triple Axel, an Axel in a cascade and very good spins. The skater and his coach, Alexei Mishin, are satisfied with the work done.

“I am very pleased with my quad and with the whole complex program, which I skated today, and most importantly – I am very happy that I was not tired. Most important thing is that the last step sequences I skated with a smile and emotionally.” Evgeni Plushenko said Channel One.

“I think Evgeni had never skated before with such level of expression, with such maturity of gesture and with such artistic vision of the world.” Alexei Mishin noted.

Russia has only one men’s singles spot for the upcoming Sochi Olympics, which many believed would go to Plushenko should he be healthy enough. His score officially makes him eligible for the Olympics, which have international guidelines that skaters must follow.

Alexander Petrov (218.75) and Sergey Borodulin (202.40), both Russia, won the silver and bronze respectively.

At the very very end after adagio there is a guitar string for the end where he knees down, it is from one of his 2003, 3004 programs, or Sonata? it is just for 3 seconds, i cant figure out which program it is...

I think that you no need to worry about this 3 sec - there will much more changes until end

I'm not any "expert" - i even mixed Adagio anf Aranjuez .... frankly, i think that this last 3 sec is "mistake"

Plushenko Olympic bid on track after comeback title win

AFP - Russian figure skating great Yevgeny Plushenko boosted his hopes of competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics by making a winning return to competition at the Volvo Cup in Riga.

Skating to "The Best of Plushenko" medley of music, the 31-year-old Turin Olympic champion said he had proved to himself he was back on track for the Sochi Games.

Plushenko achieved a personal best mark of 180.91 points for his free skate for a new personal best total of 263.25 to finish ahead of compatriots Alexander Petrov (218.75) and Sergei Borodulin (202.40).

However, because the Volvo Cup is a Senior B-level event, Plushenko's score does not count towards his personal records.

"I was a bit nervous but not as much as I was ahead of the short programme," Plushenko said.

"Today I performed well the programme that I've prepared for the Olympics and proved that I'm back. The most important thing is that I managed to prove it to myself."

Plushenko, a silver medallist in the 2002 Salt Lake City and 2010 Vancouver Olympics, added that despite feeling confident he remained cautious.

"Now I really feel I managed to perform a comeback," said Plushenko, who has not competed since withdrawing injured from the European championships in January.

"But I don't even try to predict anything after undergoing 12 operations.

I'm looking forward to continuing competing and hope to perform at my fourth Olympics. But in sport I just live for the day. I'm very happy with today's free routine and a quadruple, which I managed to perform.

But most of all I'm happy that I didn't get tired after my free programme. Especially taking into consideration that I was close to my top performance today. This free routine is almost all of my life!"

Earlier this year, Plushenko said that he would take part in the ISU Grand Prix meet in Moscow on November 22-24 and probably then in Russian nationals and the European championships ahead of the Sochi Games.

But on Saturday he refused to unveil his plans for the remainder of the season saying that he may change his preparation plans to be in his best form for the home Games in Sochi.

"I just haven't decided yet whether to perform at Moscow stage of ISU Grand Prix circuit," he said.

"My main goal is my fourth Olympics, where I want to earn a place at the podium. And I'm ready to change my plans radically to prepare for the Games in the best possible way."

Plushenko believes he is close to his previous best adding however he still has plenty of work to do.

"I feel I'm not so far from the peak of my form. But there's still a lot of homework to do to reach it."

In the summer, the three-time world and seven-time European champion underwent back surgery in a bid to make a comeback in time for the Olympics on home soil.
