Hi, Zhenya! I'm so glad to hear you are asking for us about some ideas! I hope we fans can be a help for you, the best skater of the world!
I recommend this song for exhibition. "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" by Nirvana
When I see your programmes, I often feel deep sorrow but also huge passion, especially in exhibitions. I think this song also has a same emotion, so I'm convinced that this song will suit you. Especially, I want to see your wonderful step in the last part of this song―the voice and tune become very hard and emotional.
And, most of all, I'd like to see ballet-like programmes something like "Tribute to Vaslav Nijinski" and "Adagio" They are my most favourite programmes because they are extraordinary beautiful!! When I saw them for the first time,I was so impressed that I couldn't do anything for a long time!! I could think nothing but your beauty then.It was also the first time I shed tears to see figure skating. As some fans wrote here, your Nijinski programme is very very popular in Japan. I bet it is also popular in other countries! So, I'd like to see such a beautiful skating again. I also like to see you skating with Russian classical musics or songs composed by Edvin Marton. I love Edvin's songs very much! His music makes you look much more attractive!
Though I wrote some ideas, I'll must be happy whatever song you perform. I'm really looking forward to seeing your new programmes! But please take care for your health. It is the most important thing!
Thank you Cekoni for your prompt answer. I am a good Orthodox, I will pray for Evgeni ALL DAY!! dominique P.S. You are areally great photographer. My faves are those of plush skating with kids last June.Sensational!!
Hi again Zhenya! I wasn't sure if I suggested this earlier, but I was thinking about it and I think you would do a magnificent job of portraying HAMLET. This beloved Prince of Denmark has one of the most compelling and passionate stories in all of literature. As such, he is featured in many classical and film score works:
Zhenya... I was thinking the other day about a bit more modern/contemporary for your exhibition. I know that you will take it in Sochi. Perhaps something heavy? Queensryche's "Take Hold of the Flame" or Judas Priest's "Rapid Fire"? Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" or Lacuna Coil's "Our Truth". Would make for an interesting mix wouldn't it? Queen always has something dramatic and powerful. There would be a good start. AC/DC is fun, fast, and furious. I love the idea of you performing to AC/DC's "Thunderstruck". You would literally blow everybody else away including the audience. Doll
A TRIBUTE TO ICE I SAW THE RUSSIAN SKATE final draft This isn’t over, please don’t ever let this be over
So I watched Saw the winner of the gold The graceful man The swan black The paper silver The one who took the podium The one who gave away the gold No I cannot believe that You cannot make me believe that
In homage to the power of your skate In pain over the behavior of dick button His power over the behavior of the judges You think people of stature cannot influence the behavior of others My shame at this behavior
Did you watch the graceful man Did you seriously watch him What were you watching I know what I was watching
The winner of the gold Evgeni Plushenko You cannot convince me of anything else
I saw the Russian skate I saw the quads that won the gold I heard the pronouncement of a peer Upon his great performance
Thank you Elvis Stojko I have admired you long Admired your work And most respected you and your Knowledge
Seriously Elvis Stojko said so He acknowledged that winning was Advancement He acknowledged who showed Forward movement In quads
In my words I am repeating what He said And in my words winning gold is Forward movement Not spinning in place Not the awkward flapping The insult to the black crow
A peer acknowledged who should have Won the gold Who had forward movement
We watched the Russian skate We saw the quads that won the gold
Like great moments in history We watched the Russian skate
My soul sings when I see him leap skyward The Doubles The Triples The Quads But most important the Grace That goes with the song of Who he is
Am I harsh about The insult to the black crow Yes Honest Yes Can you see what a button can buy you You watched what I watched You know Lots of spins no grace fake crying
then I watched the Russian skate swirls of black and silver the Quads an explosion of stars in a nebula spiraling graceful arms swirling pieces of a program put together making a galaxy beauty
an explosion of the soul creating life in the leaps and spins the edge of the black whole a new world of ice skating quads
Tea in a glass in a Samovar Amber Gold the liquid of who he is Through the black and silver filigree Golden tears created by an angels dream The ice that was the saucer In which he poured his heart
I saw the samovar filled with black coffee An aroma of beauty I inhaled the whorls release The vortex of quads and spins That have no compare A vortex of hells black ocean in a whirlpool The Quads The Doubles The Triples
They deprived the winner of his gold What did it take one to master the quad What did it take the other to master the spin
Button your spin cost a master his gold
Elvis was right One master moved forward Another person set skating back
What were you watching I know what I was watching
I saw the Russian skate The winner of the gold Evgeni Plushenko
Semantics: Gold Silver Platinum I know what I was watching I watched the winner of the gold I watched the Russian skate
Please forgive me For I am going to print this and print this and Then I am going to print this again Until I can make you understand
The say the eyes are the windows to the soul But those widows are a two way street I have to make you understand that what Evgeni Plushenko Made me see was Human much like me
I am a master of my craft An artist of the written word And I love my craft in every way As he is master and lover of his craft And a lover and master of the ice A quad This is what the black and silver Russian Dragon Imprinted upon my soul As I watched the Russian master skate Through the windows of my soul That runs through me to The extension of myself That is my pen that Communicates so look and look again At what he can write across the paper of his craft The joy and love he can make you feel The love he feels Through his skates
His Doubles His Triples His Quads His incomparable advancement His spins his leaps his programs The pain he experienced to create his forward movement
Show me others who quad
I have to make you understand Loving him is not all about how pretty he is It is about his love for his craft His love for the ice His mastery of that queen What he shows us One kiss at a time
It humbles me that he would reach out To all of us who love him Ask us to write a page Across the ice Suggestions Notes From master musicians That he could draw up into his soul And rewrite through his skate That we would see As so divine Haase Johnston
Dear Mr. Plushenko
You asked for suggestions for music for your skating and I hate being presumptuous, but I am going to take you at your word. I love the work of an Irish traditional music band called the Chieftains. After the demise of the Dubliners, the Chieftains became the warhorses of traditional Irish music. The group formed in Dublin in 1962, when uilleann pipe player Paddy Moloney gathered a bevy of traditional players... Their music is pure gold as is your skating. There are three tracks that I feel would go with the ease of ice skating. The Chieftains #1, Down the Old Plank Road and The Long Black Veil. There is not a drop of Irish blood in me but there music wakes a wildness that feeds the freedoms on ice. (personally i think they stole much of their sound from the Gypsys of Roumania, but don't tell them i said that) This music is conducive to Biellmann spins (I call them (cup the caged robin and Alissa Czieny does the best I have ever seen) I am sure that at times a body is made for certain things and you can’t deny them their actions (like Mr. Plushenko and the Plushenko Quad) and myriad of other spins and jumps the lay back spin and the camel spin, and spirals and all of the jumps you could dream of including the Plushenko quad.
But back to the music most are instrumental The Chieftains #1 I’ll relate what I feel track by track because in each art as you look at a piece On the easel (the frame for supporting something) each of us will see it Differently. As a musician looks, as a poet looks, as an ice artist looks As we the audience looks at Mr. Plushenko’s art
The Chieftains #1 Track one: Se Fath Mo ? The Lark on the Strand the blend of no pipes in your graceful movements succulent rich in interest The ebb and flow of our planets life the wonder the harmony of sounds and The explosion of worlds melodic vibrant worlds collide and you create The heart of humanity life and joy sorrow and death the wheeling Of stars a wedding The graceful a shop & attend The stepping of two slow then fast slow then fast Then a piper’s kiss and hobnail boots To a tattoo bless you I love the laughter that has been created by the brightness of our worlds in love
Track two: Connemara Donn / Murphy’s Hornpipe Cock and sure I am that this dance is to persuade us that laughter is all of Who we are
Track three: Cailin Na Gruaege Doinne / The Brown Haired Girl This is a lament a sadness that tokens places gone people missed
Track Four: Comb your hair & curl it / The boys of Ballisodare Such a song you would feel in your heart: To whom I would play Laughing all of the way to whom I would call home Track Five: Musical Priest / The queen of May Stars twinkle, Elf’s play, pixies laugh, trees twiddle (watch and Aspin) (All trees twiddle Aspens are just better at it) making shade Children laugh in the sun Track Six: Wall of Liscarroll track five and six belong together they say the same things Track seven: is just too sad Track Eight: Connemara Stocking / the Lime Stone Rock / Don Breen Goes with tracks five and six they sing of the simple life Trundling jigs love life and hard work and the sun and shade The other Chieftain work that I love (I love all of their work) is
Down the Old Plank Road
Track Six: Molly Bawn This one is also a very sad lament incredibly stirring and heart rending Track Seven: Ladies Pantalettes / Belles of Blackville / First House in Connaught A saucy medley of songs that again let the dance sing the hardness of life and Our love for it as eyes twinkle, legs and feet dance and fingers leap across the Strings and pipers make your heart sing.
The Last suggestion that I will toss to the winds of fate The Long Black Veil
Track Two: The Long Black Veil A very sad lament Track Five: Changing Your Demeanor Raucous and bawdy and fun
I have to make this very clear I am a fan of ice skating that comes from a family of golf fans Lord help me But most important I am not an infatuated groupee I believe everything I say about Evgeni Plushenko And at 60 years of age I have earned that right I have watched more than my share of ice programs over the years I have turned my pen to ballads for those who embrace the ice And desperately want to see Mr. Plushenko take back his gold He will always have it spiritually Next physically Thank you again Nice Roumanian girl makes good in America I have not forgotten my roots Virginia Sfichi Hortopan as Haase Johnston
