Alena Leonova RUS - triple toe-triple toe, triple flip, waltz jump - a number of careless errors today, for sure - TES 28.91, PCS 29.94, SP SCORE 58.85
Kiira Korpi FIN - triple toe-double toe, triple loop, double axel - TES 31.51, PCS 30.04, SP SCORE 61.55
Viktoria Helgesson SWE - triple toe-triple toe (possibly underrotated), triple loop (hand down), double axel - TES 26.67, PCS 27.43, SP SCORE 54.10
Kanako Murakami JPN - double axel, triple toe-triple toe (looked clean), triple flip (underrotated, fall) - TES 29.01, PCS 28.77, FALL -1.00, SP SCORE 56.78
Adelina Sotnikova RUS - triple toe-triple toe (beauty), single flip (step out, more like a 1 1/2 flip), double axel - TES 29.11, PCS 28.00, SP SCORE 57.11
Not a bad way to start the ladies' free skate, that first group. Second group warming up. Sotnikova, Murakami, Helgesson, Korpi, Leonova
Valentina Marchei ITA - triple lutz (step out)-double toe, triple salchow, double axel (a bit wonky in the air) - TES 20.48, PCS 25.77, SP SCORE 46.25
Agnes Zawadzki USA - triple lutz (solid), triple toe-triple toe (!!!), double axel - nice, another clean skate! - TES 33.01, PCS 27.17, SP SCORE 60.18
Polina Korobeynikova RUS - triple toe-triple toe (nice!), double loop, double axel - TES 26.42, PCS 25.03, SP SCORE 51.45
Caroline Zhang USA - triple loop-double toe, single flip, double axel - looks stronger on the ice today than she did at Skate Canada, too bad about that flip - TES 21.84, PCS 24.31, SP SCORE 46.15
Gracie Gold USA - triple flip-triple toe (off-axis on the flip but no problems with either jump), triple lutz, double axel - clean skate! - TES 34.92, PCS 27.24, SP SCORE 62.16
Time to get it started! First group on the ice for warmup. Gold, Zhang, Korobeynikova, Zawadzki, Marchei.
Pregame analysis: The ladies start us off today. All three Americans in the first group ... and let's see how Gold is going to fare in her third competition of the season. She's missed something in the short in both of her first two events so far, so I get the feeling that if she does get through the short program hurdle today, this could be a turn-around competition for her. Based on her Skate Canada performance, Zhang might still be a wildcard in terms of speed and performance. Zawadzki could make some noise - she's a short program skater.
The second group is also full of question marks, specifically regarding Leonova and where she is after not doing so well at Skate America to start the season. All that said - the name of the game today for all the ladies could be full rotations.
