I study ancient Greek and Latin at school, and...well, you're right, ancient Greek is VERY difficult! I don't like studying the verbs, and sometimes, when I have to translate a greek text, the italian result has a completely different sense...and my marks go down! :nez-nayu: latin is also difficult, but it's more similar to italian, so I think it's a bit easier than greek-but many people don't think so. However, I have a crazy teacher who wants us to translate phrases from italian to latin...and she drives us crazy! :kli_ny:

Holly, I can understand why in the world of ipad and iphone translating italian to latin is a bit of an exaggeration :sh_ок: but your teacher is probably trying to do her job as good as she can. Take it lightly...like a butterfly!! It will pass................ :plush45:

Queen is a favorite band of mine! I was fortunate enough to meet Brian May a few years back. Very nice gentleman.
Plushy has so many shows in Japan. I do wish he would come a little closer. :plush27: Maybe someday...Sochi? :plush38:
I think I missed the conversation about politicians. I guess I need to go back a few posts? Don't get me started on "American" politicians. :kli_ny:

Cekoni, you're welcome :-): I'm surprised there are only a few mistakes, since I was very sleepy when I did that, and I don't know Russian, and that table had only examples in portuguese, which is a very different-sounding language from English!! I thought it would be a mess ::yaz-yk: I think the "o" is wrong there, because isn't the "o" pronounced as an "a" when the syllable is weak, and as "o" when it's stressed? :kli_ny:

I don't even know what an iPad is...I guess I belong with Holly's teacher ::yaz-yk: Oh oh, if you want to practice your Latin, here's a fun way to do it! :plush44: One of my fave "rock stars" (he's not a star and never will be :-) , but he sings great) sang a song in Latin live at last year's concert I went - you can hear (and sing along!! :hi_hi_hi: ) a big part of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHzlKZVjEhA Here are the lyrics:

Nec certam sedem
Nec propriam faciem
Nec munus ullum
Peculiare tibi dedimus
Ut quam sedem quam faciem
Quae munera tute optaveris
Ea, pro voto, pro tua sententia
Habeas et possideas

Nec te caelestem
Neque terrenum
Neque mortalem
Neque immortalem fecimus

Dominique, como estas is Spanish I think (I said *think* because I don't know spanish, shame on me!!!)...in Portuguese we'd say como vai :-): But since we understand what como estas means, it's all good :mi_ga_et: I agree, that teacher was indeed gifted, he had a very good sense of humor and was always trying to catch our attention somehow, even if his methods sometimes were unorthodox (like when he started speculating - in *detail* - about the philosophers' lovelife, talking about orgies, etc :hi_hi_hi: ). And the funny thing is that he was a fan of Shakira!!!! :-) Anyway, the man's probably dead by now, he was a little old already and he had a heart attack at the end of the year (1999) I had classes with him, and the doctors told him he had to stop smoking, drinking, etc...but a couple of years later a friend of mine ran into him by chance inside a pub, so I guess he didn't follow the doctors' orders, did he!?! :-) He was very much the bohemian kind of guy - I wouldn't doubt that his dream was probably going back to Ancient Greece and participating in the orgies!!!! :hi_hi_hi: Thank you for the indication of the book, I'll search for it as soon as I'm done with this dreadful part of my research (I haven't been able to write for the past 2 weeks and the clock's ticking...I think it's time to get the hell out of here for some weeks!!! :-( ).

Doll, you're lucky to have met Bryan May, he's a wonderful musician!! And if you say he's a gentleman, that's a bonus :a_g_a: I added you on Youtube too - and it's so good to know you're a metal fan!! It's becoming rare to find one these days :ya_hoo_oo: Oh, about the politicians...it all began with a joke. Dark Star said she teaches all the *VERY EASY* subjects such as mathematics and physics at university, and I told her that I was a little afraid of her, because I SUCK at numbers and all logic-related stuff; I told her that if she asked me how much 1+1 is, I'd probably say it depends ::yaz-yk: Then she remembered a joke with politicians, that's all :mi_ga_et:

Ahhh yes, get kimonos and sneak backstage in Japan...that would be like a perfect holiday :plush31: :mo-ro_zi_vo: Did you watch that Plushy video where he's interviewed? He bows all the time, it's so funny to see, he doesn't seem very sure what to do, it's really cute :smu:sche_nie:
"He moved with grace, he entertained so naturally, no gesture out of place
His road in life was clearly drawn, he didn't hesitate
He played, they saw, he conquered as the master of his fate" - The Golden Boy - Freddie Mercury

aah! :plush44: now I'm enjoying my holidays, I haven't open a latin dictionary since May...and I think I'll wait until September! :-) no, I'm joking (unfortunately...) I'll start before it, otherwise my super-technological teacher will become...a bit dangerous ! :ry_car:
thanks for the link, sosol! maybe I can suggest her to listen to this song...she will be so happy! :hi_hi_hi:

Yes. I am a Metal fan. My favorite is Judas Priest. I love Rob Halford. Don't care that he is gay. Makes no difference to me. Been in love with him and the band since I was 12 years old.
LOL! I am TERRIBLE at math, but I have my Bachelor's degree in Business. LOL! Doesn't make much sense does it? I am a bit more artistic as far as creativity in writing and music. Unfortunately, nothing professional.
I did watch the video. How cute indeed! Translation from Japanese to English for him. He is amazing as he speaks English so very well. Makes me feel embarrassed as I wish I could speak another language fluently. I can only speak a little Spanish and German. The Spanish isn't even the "proper" Spanish, but it is what we call in the South "Tex Mex". Very diluted form of the real thing.
I hope you are all doing well. Perhaps I'll see you around on Facebook or You Tube as well as this wondrous website. I miss watching Plushy. Too bad there isn't a streaming video website to watch all the shows in Japan. Any ideas ladies?
I can just see all us crazy women in kimonos hanging around backstage and waiting for Plushy. :plush33: LOL!

Doll, let me add a few refinements to the funny picture: classic black japanese wigs :-) , pockets overflowing with hidden goodies for Plushy (little presents, teddy bears, lovepoems, music cds....ouzo), crazy fluo flip flops ;;-))) and....of course ....someone has to have a bloody camera for the occasional picture!

I´ve talked to a friend of mine, she is a new Plushy fan and she is ballerina, and I´ve told her that Plushy also had ballet training but she would like to know more about this subject, for how many years did he practice ballet, why did he quit, what´s his opinion about the importance of ballet in FS, etc. Where can I find information, articles, interviews, etc, in any language?
