http://www.facebook.com/notes/evgeni-pl ... 0663132816 Evgeni Plushenko is allowed to return to amateur figure skatingMOSCOW, June 12 - RIA Novostihttp://sport.rian.ru/figure_skating/201 ... 53110.htmlThe Council of the International Skating Union (ISU) unanimously decided to return amateur status to Evgeni Plushenko, that will allow the Russian figure skater to participate at the championships of Europe and the world and Olympics, said the agency "R-Sport" executive director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFSF) Valentin Piseev.
Plushenko was disqualified due to the fact that, referring to the injury, withdrew from the 2010 World championship, but soon after that he took part in several shows, not having the permission of the ISU. In late May, RFSF sent to the ISU formal petition, requesting the removal sanctions from the Olympic champion, which was considered at the council of organization in Amsterdam.
"Today the ISU Council decided to restore Plushenko's amateur status. As far as I know, and ISU president Ottavio Cinquanta, and all council members reacted positively to the intention of Plushenko's return to active competition, so the decision was taken unanimously," - told Piseev by telephone.
Members of the ISU Council "wished to Evgeni success" and expressed hope that "this decision is not taken in vain."
"Ten minutes ago I spoke with Evgeni. He thanked the Federation for support and positive solution of his issue" - added Piseev.
Executive director of the RFSF also said that Plushenko is now in Germany, where passes planned medical procedures, but "after 10 days, Evgeni begins a full preparation for the season."
How write Plushenko himself in his microblog on Twitter, on it was carried out surgery on the knee joint. "Pruned meniscus" - the skater said. - "After two weeks I will be in order."

Plushenko gets 2014 Olympics green light(AFP) – 1 hour agohttp://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/ar ... b55023.bc1MOSCOW — Three-time world champion Yevgeny Plushenko was on Sunday given the green light for the 2014 Olympics after the International Skating Union (ISU) restored the Russian's amateur status.
"The ISU council decided to restore Plushenko's amateur status today. It was their unanimous decision," said Russian skating federation executive director Valentin Piseyev.
Last year, the 2006 Olympic gold medallist lost his eligibility to skate at the Sochi Games after the ISU punished him for skating in exhibitions without permission.
The 28-year-old, who also won silver at the 2002 and 2010 Olympics, had pulled out of the 2010 world championship citing a knee injury but then skated in exhibitions without the authorisation of the ISU.
He was banned in June and did not appeal within the 21 days allowed so the ISU confirmed they were upholding their decision.
Earlier this year Plushenko wrote a letter through the Russian figure skating federation asking the ISU to reinstate him as an active amateur sportsman.
Plushenko has a long history of knee problems but ended a three-year retirement to skate at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics where he took silver behind American Evan Lysacek.
Despite his health problems the skater from Saint Petersburg has expressed his hope of recapturing his Olympic men's title at his home Games in Sochi when he would be 31.
