Hi, I'm new here. Many thanks for sharing the videos and scores and news of COR. :plush32:

http://twitter.com/patinaggio

- Chan: 4T fall, 3A3T, 3Lz, SlSt, FSSp, 3A fall, 3Lz fall, CSSp, 3F tight, 3Lo2T, 2A3T, ChSt, CCoSp. Ouch. Great footwork but his use of his arms & upper boby is very juniorish. Btw, He fell 4 times at SC. Fell 4 times here in Russia too.
- Abbott: 4T fall, 3F so, 3A3T, FUSp, Life is beautiful, CiSt, 2A, 3A so , 3Lo1T2T, CSSp, 3Lz fall, 3S, ChSp, CCoSp. Not so beautiful today.
- Verner: 3Lz3T, 3A tight , 3Lo, FCoSp, 3A2T, 3Lz, 3S, 2A so/hd, 3F2T2Lo, FCSSp, SlSt Ahahaha, CCoSp. Very nice! Fun! 156.21/230.31. 1st.

So that means if Chan didn't jump the last 2A3T but 2A instead, he would be the champion of COR???!!!!~~ in spite of falling down 4times!!!! what a dazzling score! :kli_ny: :)-(:

Hope Gachin be more confidence, I like his programs.

DiManno: Patrick Chan wins silver despite ‘dumb mistakes’

He saw the Kremlin. He saw Red Square. And then he saw the ice — way too up close and personal.
From the seat of his pants, actually, it was.

Patrick Chan had ventured into the Russian Orthodox Church of figure skating, where the quad jump is revered, intending to carve himself a niche as its newest hi-Q icon.
Instead, he’s coming home with consolation silver from the Cup of Russia. Still a fine result but the 20-year-old from Toronto had been aiming higher, highest, top of the podium distinction.

“It was very important to me to do the quad here. I know the crowd is hungry for quads. It’s where the king of quads was born.’’

That would be Evgeny Plushenko, or Alexei Yagudin, both accomplished four-rotation practitioners, both former Olympic and world champions.

And, in fact, Chan did reel off a perfect quad toe — on Friday, in the short program. He just couldn’t repeat the feat, and stay on his feet, in Saturday’s long competition.

“When you land it, it’s so exhilarating,’’ the skater-scholar said during a conference call from Moscow on Saturday morning, “and just the opposite after you fall.
“The crowd is really quiet after you fall.”

Gold was claimed by Tomas Verner of the Czech Republic, who didn’t even attempt a quad, with bronze going to American Jeremy Abbott, who did, but also went splat on the effort. :plush34:

For Chan, who’d been on top after the short phase of this ISU Grand Prix circuit stop, Moscow will have few pleasant memories beyond his tourist whirl earlier in the week. The world silver medallist, presenting an extensively rejigged version of his “Phantom of the Opera’’ program from last season, fell on his opening quad toe, a second triple Axel and a triple Lutz meant to be done in combination. Then, improvising on the fly, he threw in a third triple toe on a close-out double Axel combo that did not count under the sport’s rules, meaning that whole sequence scored zero. :)-(:

Nevertheless, Chan did beautifully uncork a strong triple Axel-triple toe combination earlier and drew from the judges — who always mark him generously on the superiority of his craft — the event’s highest program component scores: 81.30.
“Unfortunately, the triple Axel was a bit of a dilemma, as it was in the short.”

While insisting he was not tired from the long flight — indeed, got to Moscow early, last Monday, and had adjusted to the time zone, getting solid sleep — Chan was startled by his string of errors. “I made stupid mistakes in the program that never happen in practice. But I think I recovered well after the quad-triple. Overall, I was really pleased with myself.”

He tried and largely succeeded in blanking out the early miscues. But when Chan came off the ice, co-coach Christy Krall — the jumping specialist whose put zing in his leaps — teased: “You little dumbo.’’
And he agreed. “It’s just really dumb mistakes.’’

Russians didn’t invent the four-rotation jump — that was Canada’s Kurt Browning, first to nail the feat in competition. But they’ve certainly since laid claim to a Russian Revolution of the supremely difficult element, via Yagudin and Plushenko. That’s what had so motivated Chan, coming in to Moscow.

A sports schism had cracked open in recent years, with Plushenko and other quad aficionados such as Elvis Stojko criticizing male skaters who won’t rise to the 4-roto dare.

At the Vancouver Games, American Evan Lysacek gathered Olympic laurels, pushing Plushenko down into silver, despite never even contemplating a quad. However sublime Lysacek’s long program performance — a gorgeous display of athleticism and artistry — many observers feared the sports challenge of figure skating was regressing, this generation of men on blades too quad jittery to risk it. And the new-ish scoring system doesn’t necessarily encourage that gamble.

A recent convert to the quad
:-) — Chan landed it for the first time in competition last month, where he won gold at Skate Canada in Kingston — he is now among the rare breed that includes it also in his short program.

So Chan has silver and gold to show for his two International Skating Union assignments this season. He’ll take those confidence-boosting results to the Grand Prix final in Beijing next month and the 2011 global championships in Tokyo in March.
The student-athlete will also take aim at on his fourth straight national title, in Victoria, come January.

In the short on Friday, performed to the cool sounds of jazz classic “Take Five,” Chan opened with a clean and convincing quadruple-triple combination and afterwards described its flawless rendering as a huge relief. “It’s a load off my shoulders. I was very excited to do it in Russia.”

Excitement segued to disappointment this morning, yet Chan was philosophical, eagerly looking forward to the Grand Prix final for which he’s easily qualified.

“It was a learning experience here. These are all steps I have to take.”

Image

С плаката неподалеку на лед смотрел Евгений Плющенко. Трудно предположить, о чем он сейчас мечтает, но ближайшие его планы вряд ли связаны со спортом.(что за бред, :plush43: аффтор явно не в теме :)-(: )

Image

Image

....

А победила японка Мики Андо, показав удивительно красивую программу. За поведением ее тренера Николая Морозова во время выступления следить порой не менее интересно, чем за происходящим на льду.
